I just bought a 97 4Runner SR5, wondering how big of tires I can put on without doing any lifts? also what is a good 2" body lift that is fairly simple?
Before you get too set on a body lift only, think about how many miles are on your stock suspension. Probably a good idea to refresh that first with a mild lift and go from there.

Really depends what you are after. Since you are new to this I would take a look at every ones build threads, see who is running what, and who's truck has a stance you like. Personally I've upgraded just what I have needed to be able to go where I wanted.
sounds good, I'm just really going for looks. maybe a little driving through the woods during hunting season. Don't want to go too crazy, just a little different look then the stock 4runners on the road. Gotta be different right?!
