Tire Size

It's getting time for tires again, so the ? of the day is " how big can you go".

I ran through a few build threads and have found many that are in my same setup, but, not as big tires as I'm desiring to jump up to. I'm on a 3/3 lift, 0 body lift and DON'T want to.

So I'm here seeing if anyone with my setup have gone up to 34-35" tires, and if so, any issues with off roadding flexing.

Yes I have used that also for my judgement, and with my 32s I didn't come close to trimming. And appearance of going to 35s I shouldn't have to trim either. Just sitting there versus flexing is a different story. I'm also on aftermarket bumpers also. Maybe I should have put that also in my beginning post.

A lot of controversy on that thread, and have to look at each persons individual setup and uses. Again, THANK YOU.

One more thought, are you planning to regear? Most with 34s/35s will recommend it, especially if you have the v6. If not, a true 33" tire such as a 255/85/17 may be worth looking into. Depending on your conditions off road, a narrower tire may actually yield better performance. I can't find the article I'm looking for, but here's a similar one that covers the benefits of a narrow tire.

V6, haven't re geared and have talked to others on this also that have the 35s.
No real problems as of yet, just a little sluggish.

34s +/- seem like where I will have to be on the height. And even with a little narrow 275-295 to eliminate the frame area. Snow would be the only issue possibly that wide, but, I tend to air down to 8-12 off roadding. I still got a lot of grip in the snow with my 265s, but, I tend to run tires that have high numbers for that condition.

I'm still fond of the Coopers SST, but, they stop making them, looking at the Goodyear MT/Rs also now. Just like the performance they provide for off roadding.
 
I've been looking at the Cooper STT Pro, 285 or 295/70/17. They seem to be at a good price too; but relatively new/unproven yet.
 
They have all the elements listed like the SST version except listed, bead lock, and a 3rd rib.

I have NO complaint about them at all. They chunk a little when having to power up and break traction on very steep uphill climbs, very soft compound, but, grip very well.
With the beadlock design they had, was able to drop to the 6-8 pound area. Not sure if they did the beadlock design on these and can drop that low.
 
I read they have a built in "flex groove" to help with airing down. Haven't found any psi numbers yet though.
 
That might be the same then. When they came out with the 1st SST version, they called them bead lock tires.

I have had them at 6psi before, I normally go to 10-12psi aired down with them with no problems on 265/70/17's
