I got some 97 alloys, they are in the garage awaiting clearcoat stripping. I had the optional 31's on my runner (a 93 3.0 auto) when I bought it and for a few reasons the truck would barely move. I mean getting on the freeway, etc. Almost no pickup from 30-50 mph. I got stock size (non-option) tires, 225/75/15s on the steelies and it is better. Now that I have found other reasons for the deadness, now it "is what it is" and the 2nd gens were weak with the 3.0. For the alloys I wil probably go with 245/70/16's to keep the overal diameter close to the 225s but still have some better stance, and some accelleration. This doesnt answer your question but is just a thought. I am concerned with going to 31 and above ever again because of the pickup issues with this truck. Around town it is fine. I guess I have minimum performance expectations after trading in a 89 Vette on a 2006 F150 5.4, and now having this 3.0 V-6 and loving it, other than the acceleration and mileage. I also understand there is a big difference between stock and option (31) tires on mileage.
