tire, suspension, and rub (have searched)

I am going to try to make this as short as possible, and I have done some searching but nothing seems to really answer my question and I would also like your opinions.

I had a 97 4runner and have rims and tires for them along with lift kit, but never put them on yet and now just bought a 2004 4runner.

I now want to put the rims and tires on my new one. When I bought my 2004 it came with a spacer leveling kit installed. He was not sure exactly what lift it was but he thought it was 1"-1.5". I will attach the photos at the end of my post. I then put my new wheels on. (265/75r16 dynapro) with level 8 tracker(8.5 width and -25 offset) and they rub a little in the front.

My plan was to get rid of the spacer and add a 2.5-3 inch lift which I would hope would get rid of the rubbing since the tires arent that big(although the rims have an aggressive stance), but looking at my front spacer I wonder if my lift in the front is more than the 1-1.5 inch lift he thought it was.

So my questions are:
1. Do you know how much my lift is? (especially in the front) the spacer measures about 1.5 inch thick so would it be lifted about 3 inch in the front? (see picture at bottom)
2. if my spacer lift is less than lets say 2 inch and I ad a lift that is 2.5 inch do you think that would clear my wheels?
3. Would you leave what I have and just try to trim it? (but what about when it is flexing a little i dont want to be rubbing)
4. Should I keep my rims and spacer lift and try to get one size down tire? I dont really wanna get a smaller tire though.
5. What would you do?

I really like my rims and tires and the stance so I would really like to keep them, I guess my main question is how can I tell how much lift that spacer leveling kit actually gave me. If it gave me a 1.5 inch lift, I would take them out and put in a 2.5-3 inch lift. If the spacer lift added more than 2 inch lift then im not sure if I should get new wheels or trim or what. to my it doesnt seem like the spacer lift is that much but im not sure. The tires I have on right now are 265/70r17, so they are basically the same size but im not sure about the rim specs but they definetly dont have an aggressive of a stance.

Here are some of the rubbing. The wheel is slightly turned, although I forget to take note of how far it was turned. it rubs the most toward the headlight side, although it doesnt seem to be that bad.

I'll give my thoughts!

You have a 1.5" thick spacer, which yields roughly 3" lift. But those springs look worn out to me, so your not seeing 3" right now. I'd about bet if you put some FJ or Moog stock springs on you would see an extra inch.

What are you thinking about swapping too?

Also the -25 offset is probably hurting you a lot too. You may not run with more lift, but with your shoes sticking out that far it's hard to tell.

Update: after looking closer!
With those wheels I think you are going to have to trim some regardless, they are out there a ways it looks like. Get ride of spacers and get some better springs and shocks, you may not have to trim much.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it would be about 3 inch but just wasnt sure and wanted to double check before I did anything.

I think I could go back to discount tire and change the rims to -6 offset instead of -25 which would bring them in 3/4 of an inch if that would help, or do you still think that is too far? I like the stance of them when the wheel reaches the fender or goes out past it just a bit so I dont want something that looks stock.

What would you reccomend for the rear if I got new springs up from to add an inch? I would like the rear to be about 1/2-3/4 inch higher than the front, My concern is if I ditch the spacers and add all new shocks and springs thats a lot of money and what if it still rubs..

on a side note, how much clearance would be appropriate? if when turning the tire clears by an 1/8 of an inch, is that good, or is that too close where when turning and hitting a bump it will rub? just curious about that too. I ask because if all i need is to clear by 1/8 of an inch, I could just get the rims that are -6 offset and leave the spacers I have in(I dont think I would have to trim much), saving me a lot of money for now, just a thought, but I do want to do it right also

If your looking for the easiest and cheapest route to still look good, traded them for the -6 offset! That's the typical setting for most and still looks great. You may have to trim a hair still but hopefully not.

Ok thanks for the help, I think I will check to make sure that I can switch to the -6 and see how that works, and if im not satisfied then maybe ill put in the money and take the spacers out and buy new shocks and springs.
