Tired of Loud Exhaust!!

I have a 2000 4Runner. 2 Years ago I put on a Magnflow muffler.

I know miss the quiet interior. What are my options here??

-Buying a new factory exhaust??

Is there any harm done to the vehicle putting back on a stock muffler?

I took my flowmaster off too a while back after having it on for a year or so because it got too loud. Luckily I kept my stock muffler in the garage because i knew I'd eventually change it back.

No harm n no problems at all going back to a stock muffler. All they have to do is saw off the magnaflow and weld a new one back on.

You can buy a new muffler from the dealer but it won't be cheap. Other options would be to buy an aftermarket replacement which will probably cost around $150, or pick up a used one from a junkyard.

Yeah unfortunatly I did not keep my stock muffler!!

How much do new stock mufflers run?

Also what other aftermarket mufflers are QUIET. Atlead quiter than my Magnaflow.

I went to my mechanic who put on my Magnaflow in the first place.

The one I a currently have is a 14''. Im going to try putting on a 22''.

Anyone know how much quiter or difference of sound a 22'' is compared to a 14'' is?

That's too bad that your exhaust is too loud now. I'm glad I kept my old muffler in case this happens to me.

I am almost positive they make quite mufflers, but I'm just not sure of the company.

i'm sure any muffler shop should have an aftermarket replacement for your 4runner. By aftermarket i mean an off-brand, OEM replacement muffler that will be just as quiet as the original factory muffler....it just won't be made by toyota.

So what muffler did you go with? Is the 18" Magnaflow #11255 considered a quiet muffler?

Uh, if your just looking to bringing your vehicle back to factory quietness, just go to a muffler shop and tell them you want quiet. There is no "special" muffler for the 4runners. A muffler is a muffler and a muffler does one thing, MUFFLES! Stock mufflers if kept on the vehicles aren't going to last long. It's only a matter of time before road debris and condensation rusts it away and you have to change it. Theres replacements all over the world and they're cheap.

IMO, save your money and don't go to the stealership or buy a "brand name" muffler. If your looking to silence the rig, then I bet you could care less about how the welds look. Take to Joes Muffler & Bearings & Biscuit shop near you and just let them weld on a muffler for 50 bux. It'll sound like the way it came from the factory.

well of course a 14'' is loud im not into really loud trucks and stuff but a little is fine my 18'' magnaflow is the right amount with out being annoying and the stereo can drowned it out very easy
