Tires that can do it all in Colorado.

Hello again! I've been looking at tires to go with my 3" lift to be installed. I've decided to go with 285/70/17s, (with some help from A_S_R) and have narrowed it down to a few tires.

Nitto trail grapplers, Wrangler Duratracs, and BFG Mud Terrain T/A KM2s.

I've decided on "mud" tires like these because they really provide for my specific needs: I need a tire I can use all year, on the road through colorado snow/ice/heat, as well as tires that will perform off-road when that's where I go. So these are the tires I've really found that cater to that need.

So what I'd like to know from all of you is, whats your experience with tires like this, are there other tires you recommend, and if you have one of these tires, how do they perform?

Edit: I'm running geolanders right now, and I love them for gravel, and highway traction...but they are generally lacking in ice traction, and general off-road aptitude.

I think the Duratracs are the way to go. They are a true all terrain tire. They perform excellent in most every area. The others you listed are mud terrains, they're not gonna perform as well as the Duratracs overall. I think the Duratracs would be substantially better in snow/ice, but I'll admit I've not tried this so I could be wrong.

Duratracs are going to be your best choice. All 3 will perform about equal in all areas but the duratracs will work much better in the snow.

Thanks both of you, I found a guy who was able to give me a little discount on the duratrac's, and those really do look like the way to go. Excellent reviews + good quality.

That size is the only size that offers duratracs in D load rating too. Even more reason to go with them.

Of those 3, Duratracs are the only ones severe winter rated, they will easily be the best on snow/ice, and they more than hold their own in the dry, and offroad. Also, great hydroplane resistance.

Ive ran the Firestone Dest MTs for a few years lol I love them, but Im trying to TreadWrights Gaurd Dogs now, we havent had a good snow yet so Ill see how they do, Im betting as good or better than the Firestones, BTW, Id get 50K out of the Firestones

i've been looking at those two as well! Maybe I should add them to the list above? I'd be delighted to hear how they do when the snow finally does come around... I live in a ski resort, and we're snow starved at the moment!
