Tires

Hello everybody. I'm new here and new to forums. I'll learn. Also, I am new to off roading so I won't be climbing huge rocks (not yet anyway). Just purchased my first 4x4 which is a '97 4Runner SR5. It came with 245/80/16 tires. Should I stay with this size, or go wider but lower? The other option is 255/70/16. Any suggestions on brands or type of tire? Thanks a bunch.

As for brand/model there's many choices, you have to decide how aggressive you want to go. In M/T's the GY Duratrac seems to be well liked. For A/T's many like the Nitto Terra-Grappler, Revo's, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armours, the BFG A/T and many others.

You can go as large as a 32" tire. This basically means 265/75/16 or 265/70/17 if you were to get new 17" rims.

Like CJ said, it depends on how aggressive you want to go, how much you want to spend, and how much driving you do on road.
