Titan Rod Vault?

I go fishing every weekend with my brother and we usually bring about 8 poles between the 2 of us so I had to rig up something temporary until the rack I want is ready. Emailed the company last week and they are about 6 weeks out from releasing this.

Thanks for the offer but I am going to wait for them to release the new set up. I carry kayaks with me sometimes too so it would get in the way of the kayaks.

Any issues?

For those of you that have the front feet mounted behind the coupling cylinder (didn't know what else to call it), have you experienced any issues with vibration causing extra wear or damage? Like going over bumps, rocky roads, etc. causing extra flex in the front part of the vault? Hope this makes sense.

Mine has always been like that. When I had it on the stock bars, they just aren't far enough forward to avoid it...and same with my Prinsu 3/4. I haven't had problems and I wheeled it like that too.

You will be fine if the coupler is ahead of the mounting points. I've had no issues since I've had it mounted for the past 5k miles.

With my Prinsu 7/8 rack, the forward mount is just barely in front of the coupler. I also had to remove the last crossbar to get it to fit between the rack and the rear hatch when it's open.

Picked up a refurbished Titan Rod Vault at their factory...perks of them being based in Denver! After plasti-dipping it anthracite grey, installed them today. If you use the stock TE cross bars, you'll need two spacers for the rear mount, and shorter bolts up front.

Guys at Denver Outfitters were awesome...they already knew what the 5th Gens needed, so he gave me four spacers, which are just the bottom part of the clamp with the threads drilled out. He drilled them out for me real quick. The spacers lift the rear clamp up about an inch so that you can actually open the case. Our 5th Gen cross bars are so close to the roof of the truck. This is the reason for shorter bolts up front...cost about $4 for four 1-1/4" bolts.

Just got my Denver Rod Vault today! I was going to pick it up but it suddenly showed up on my porch. Sounds like I will need to do some work based on what you posted there. Any tips or suggestions?

If its going on your stock cross bars on a 5th gen 4runner, you'll need to get some extra risers/spacers. Just call them and go by their shop...they should be able to hook you up. Other than that, its straight forward. Just measure and set up the mounts based on the distance between your cross bars.

The refund process was full of lies, delays, and more lies, but I finally received a refund. The next day I bought an Ultimate Rod Case. Delivered in a week, exactly as promised, and it is AWESOME!

Denver Outfitters communication and customer service has been absolutely pathetic. I broke the cover to mine (MY fault, not theirs) but they have gone radio silent on me about replacement parts. I am going to have to try and fix it myself I guess. Which is exactly what I did when the vault arrived and didn't have the necessary extensions...

Was the Ultimate Rod Case similar in price? How was the install?

Was the Ultimate Rod Case similar in price? How was the install?

Price was higher but the product is far superior and it holds four rods. Communication was exceptional. I had a lot of questions before purchasing because I was trying to ensure that it would fit on the Gobi Stealth rack and still allow the rear hatch to open. Earl was super helpful and sent me the right spacers to make it work.

Install was easy. It has a bottom plate that runs nearly the full length of the bottom on each side. You choose where you want to drill through the plate to accommodate your rig. I spent less than $5 on the mounting hardware. Fits perfectly and after a 16 mile dirt road excursion this weekend, I know it’s staying put.

Update: the rod vault works with the Baja adapters but it's super high up. Decided to leave it off for my 2k mile road trip.

Hey there, it is a long shot that this gets you so long after your post but it is worth a shot.
I noticed your pics of your 4Runner with the titan rod vault. From what I have seen, it appears to be the first set up that might work for me.

My Problem:
I am very, very interested in a rod vault but I'm afraid I would have a bit of an issue with my roof rack and clearance with my hatch which opens upwards. Basically, the rear tailgate/hatch when in the upright position goes past horizontal. Clearance between it and the rear of the roof rack is only a couple of inches (see attached photo with hatch fully open).


Vehicle: 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRDRoof Rack: Thule Canyon Roof Mount Cargo Basket with Extension (mounted as far forward as possible)

What I am thinking:
I can still get at the crossbars (that the basket is mounted to) and I am thinking if I can get enough height, like yours, I might be able to just squeeze a rod vault in there.

My question to you:

What are these "risers" in your photos (see attached)? How can I elevate my vault that critical 3 or 4 inches so that I can clear the lip of my hatch?
