To Body Lift or not to Body Lift

Ok so I want to install the new carpets and seats this weekend BUT I have an issue. I took everything out of the Runner and now would be a perfect time to do the body lift, but then I have to wait for parts and get all the equipment to do it, blah blah blah. I only want to run 33's on her (eventually) so is there any point in doing a body lift in addition to the suspension lift I already have? I just dont want to be kicking myself in 6 months and have to take all this stuff out again to do the body lift.

Thanks guys

So your pretty much trying to run a 285/75?

That's right at 33" depending on what type of tires you get.

I would say no to the body lift.

Thanks Clemson. I have to admit I have no clue how to read/decipher those tire codes. I have tried but have not ever been able to figure it out. But yes 33" tires I think should be perfect on that baby.

the ones on it look pretty close to 33's my man

what size are they?

Like I said I have no clue how to read them but I was told they were 31.5's. I am a moron when it comes to tires...

I just looked at your sig and feel like a tool haha. DUH, the lift info is right there.

If you do a BL, you have to deal with raising the bumper, extending the steering column and stuff like that if you go over 2 inches

I would only do a 1.5 or 2 inch max.

Regarding those tire numbers...let me break it down for ya!

Let's say you're shooting for 285/75 R 16

285 = the cross-sectional tire width in millimeters

75 = the sidewall aspect ratio (height) of the tire, expressed in a percentage of the width (so, this tire is 75% of 285mm tall...multiply 285 times .75 = 213.75mm tall).

R = radial type tire.

16 = the diameter of the wheel the tire is designed to fit, in inches.

THANK YOU!!!! ill buy you an ARB bumper or something :) jk

Here is a good tire calculator. This will convert sizes for you so that if you are looking at a 285/75/r16, it will calculate and tell you its approx. 33"x 11.5. Punch in 305/70/r16 and you will get approx. 33"x12.5 ...maybe this will help in your search.

You already have a 3 inch lift, probably no on the body lift, unless when you go offroading and your tires rub when stuffed and turning. Then maybe, if it becomes a problem, but if your not going to do much serious offroading then you should be good. I'm in the same situation, I have 33's and a 2 inch lift in the front and have not taken it offroading much, I'm probably going to go with a 1 inch body lift to be safe. We'll see.

Thanks that helps alot. The tires in the pic are 265/70/r16 So im guessing a 33" should be no problem. No body lift for now!

lift options??

Yea so i got my 4runner about 4 months ago and still cant come to a decision on what kind of lift to get. The best thing so far is 7.1 kit from Sonoran Steel Fabrication
which would take it to 2.5f and 3r now keep in mind it is a 2wd:( but i have to get this baby off road soon before i have to go overseas in a few months. So any input would be awesome. :rocker:
