to those with arb's where would you mount stock fogs?

i think i'm going to burn out spots for my stock fogs on my new arb, where should i do it to look cool?

red-green-yellow are the paces where i think it might look cool, if you have any links to pics where someone else has done this that would be great also any additional input would be great, as in wtf are you thinking cutting up a new bumper for.....lol

I have a buddy that mounted fogs (not stock) in the voids next to the winch hole. I like next to the indicators as they will sit flush with the bumper, but then again fogs work best when you mount them as low as practical for the application.

i plan on burning a hole and welding a mount bracket to the back so the lights will sit flush no matter where they are mounted in the bumper

Ahh if you do that then the yellow dot is probably best IMO. You will get a nice spread of light there. Would you consider selling them ($$) and getting a set of aftermarket lights to put in one of those locations? Like Piaa 510's or something of the sort?

Lol i was just generalizing I had the stock fogs until a stump broke one now i just have my two piaa's in lieu of the stocks. It would look cool either way, but im a lighting kind of guy the more of it, the bigger my smile. ha

sooo if i go with the yellow location are you guys saying i should just cut the plat and mount them like that? i was going to make a little shelf for them to sit flush and level-ish i think the angle of that plate might make the light go straight into the ground, i have the bumper all wrapped up and in the back of my truck right now so haven't even got a good look at the angle of that plate...

If you install it flush with the bumper at that angle (yellow spot), it may be too much angle like you were saying, but a straight shot (red spot) would be just as bad too since you really just want fogs to light up the first 10-15 ft. I'm guessing that if you mount it in the yellow spot and turn it slighly upward if you need to, it would still look nice (definitely better than mounting it in the red spot and turning it downward IMO).

haha im the exact same way... ive got so man lights on my runner right now my friends say it looks like a spaceship at night when i have them all on. I just got a roof rack so ill have 4 more on top with a total of 12 lights facing front. HAHA

Izzard: i think u could do either... just mounting them could render worthless if its aimed directly at the floor and if u build a straight shelf for it then it might be too high so maybe u could build a shelf and angle it slightly and hopefully ull get the best angle and output for ur fogs. ok so after looking at the bumper and the stock fog light housing i'm going to mount it in the red spot using nothing more then a piece angle this should give me the ability to aim the light using the stock housing and aiming mech.



kind of like this,very very rough but the basic idea... it will make a lot more sense once you look at the stock fog light housing/aiming mech.

I am also going to suggest yellow, this location would look good and be the most functional imo.

yellow wont's work very well at all, after looking at the size of the light and the size of that plate went you go to drill a 2.5 inch hole in there it just won't fit with out catching the upper plate as well, and the only other way of doing it would to have the light it's self recessed back into the hole which would cause the light to be blocked by the bumper as it leave the hole cut out.


really after looking at the red is the only spot you can do it with only drilling into one plate and have the fog light lens flush with the bumper.

also you have to remember that plate is angled down so drilling straight with the plate will aim the light straight to the ground which is useless....\


has anyone ever done this before? and if so how did they do it? and did they use the yellow spot? if so i'd like to see it.

you have a number of options depending on fab skills...you could put them where ever...and have a frenched look...or in the lower portion of an angled install, you could take some round stock and level it out.

Over in yotatech there is a member rockslide that modified his front bumper, although it is a tjm like mine you should take a look and see if you can get a new idea of what you want to do. Just type in tjm fog and you should see (mod my tjm bumper). Hope this helps and would check this thread often to see the end result.

that's the same location as i'm putting them on my arb, the flat plate not teh angled one, and it's pretty much the exact same thing minus the sleeve which i was thinking will mess with adjustment, if you notice the hinge the fog light is on there, right.... well that don't look like it'll do anything for you as the light is being captured by the sleeve in the bumper and being aimed with that, so unless the welder put that pipe/sleeve in at the right angle to the road those lights will be pointing straight out like the head lights do and make them almost completely useless....
