I stopped into my local Toyo dealer today and then ended up at the parts counter.. there was a guy in front of me who was getting OEM parts for believe it or not his brake upgrade- The same reason i was there for.
As he was getting parts he asked what they cost... everything was going great they had everything instock until they told him the OEM 231MM Calipers were $464 a piece...

when they got to me... I bought wiper blades..... and a key chain...

Yep, there are varying degrees of how far one has to bend over when at the dealer parts counter.

I have to ask why wiper blades at the dealer though. That must not have been cheap either.

I think he took everything but the Calipers... i guess you can Mix n match.. i dont know enough to say for sure... perhaps he will return everything later.

Just the rear Blade. I have never found it anywhere else....

I still plant to do it, but it might be a little later on. I am told that the 231mm is a world of diff than the next smaller size down..

I'm not surprised. I am gathering parts for the 199mm upgrade. I went with OEM Tundra rotors for $81 each and OEM pads and shims for $100. They wanted $520 for each caliper.

Toyota...I don't like what you do for me!

Can't speak to the difference between the 199 and 231, but the 231 is incredible and probably the best upgrade I have done. Did the work back in 2010 and have covered about 30k and everythings still great. I got my rotors and calipers on Amazon and looking at my receipts I paid $71 for each rotor and $135 for each loaded caliper which came with the better black pads, all Raybestos. I live in a hilly area and drive in the Mts a lot and its impossible to say how great these brakes are, they never seem to get hot and fade is something that just doesn't happen. If you are on the fence and just need a push here it is, don't delay, act now supplies are not limited.


On a side note, I paid less for all my parts, including stainless lines then the dealer was asking for one caliper!

This is why you buy used calipers and just buy the rebuild kit from Toyota. The rebuild kits shouldn't be much more than $30-$40.

Did my 231's w napa ultra premium rotors and Adaptive One pads and hardware n fluid for just over $375 including core!!

I still will do the upgrade, but i could not beliver the Caliper prices!

Dude! you have me beat! $520 for A caliper? that should with a RT Tix to Japan! this way i can see my GF more often.

I think i'm going to re think this and use some of the ideas you guys have come up with... I have decided to change my Lines too. while everything is apart.

I like your numbers better.
