Mind if i have a talk with you guys?

Today, was a sad day.. i lost my FUC*IN*GODUHNGOUWAVNO*AS)VNA)*#U@)I($)!)R)! keys...
Not only does it feel ****ty but angry at the same time.. i have no idea at what point in time today that i lost them..
didnt use the truck all day thought my keys were in my pocket the whole time, only to find out when i got home they were missing.
i looked EVERYWHERE but no luck. i was quick to get over it though in a sense because i do have a spare set, THANK GOD. going to make another copy tomorrow to keep me in the clear.
now i plan to go to my buddies shop tomorrow to get another remote/alarm redone to make sure my previous remote does not work with the truck.
the chances are slim to none any way of anyone matching a set of keys on the ground to a specific vehicle but it'll help me sleep better at night.

anyone else who experienced this, will know exactly how ****ty it feels.
any horror stories? like not having a spare set of keys to your truck?
or just any stories, please share so i dont feel alone.. HAHA

Most of the time they turn up, sometimes months later.
These events do teach you to develop habits of putting stuff in the same place every time.

I'd like to think everyone does lose stuff, happens to me way too often.

Yea I lost my nice set of keys one time, had my remote on it and everything.

Found them in the engine bay months later!

My most recent loss was my favorite reading glasses.
After several days of driving I found them on my driver's side running board.
How in the world they stayed there I'll never know.
Fell out of my shirt pocket I'm sure when I was looking under the seat for something else that was lost.

I hate when this happens too. It's amazing how something so small can ruin your life lol. So far I've only lost mine when I'm late for something... (happens every time) but I haven't lost mine like you yet... It's just bound to happen though.

Good luck on getting your life back together haha it does suck!

I lost my key while mountain miking hundreds of miles from home. The rig was locked, I did have another key inside. My hideakey must have fallen off on some trail. One of my riding partners looked by the trailhead/restrooms/message board. Someone found it and hung it up (along with 3 other sets).

My dad was hunting last week and came out to his mercury mountaineer and took his phone out of his pocket. Set it on the bumper. Pit his bow in the back, took off his boots camp etc and left. Drove like 4 miles back out of the woods on a 'very' pot holed logging trail. Then another 8 miles home. Gets home and realizes what he did when he can't find his phone. So he looks thorough all his stuff in the back and his phone is right there. Sitting on the bumper right there!

It is a ***tty feeling. I took 2008 Toyota key off my ring from something and lost it. It was the integrated fob/key with a chip that can only be programmed at the dealer. Not only did I feel bad, but my wallet stung too.

I feel your pain.

But wait until you lost your wallet! 3 credit cards, driver's license, other cards, pictures, and had just went to the ATM! Did not make my day! Funny thing, I realized it was missing within 3 minutes, but someone had already found and kept it.

First thing I do when I get a new vehicle is make another master key and buy a remote.

AND I always separate my vehicle keys from my house keys. I don't trust mechanics (with my house keys) (and I used to be a mechanic too).

You have to treat it as a skill, not a flaw. I am very good at hiding stuff from myself! Atlanta_man has a very good point that I have taught myself to do over the years: put stuff back in the same spot and make it a habit (a borderline OCD habit).

I think most of you are a lot younger than I am,,,,,just wait, this gets worse. Yesterday, I took a couple items out of a coat pocket, probably put them in a location that made sense at the time, but now I have no damn idea where they are.

When I had my 97Runner I lost a set of keys, I looked everywhere for those darn things. Later, after I'd sold it, the woman who purchased it contacted me and said she'd found a set of keys..under the seat cover on the driver's side seat.

I could go on and on, but the point is, this stuff happens, as you get older it happens more, but look at the bright side, eventually you can wrap your own Christmas gifts.... :keyboard: +++++ you meet new people every day.

About 4 years ago, i lost my shop keys. Keys to all the gates, the doors, the stock room, and both my toolboxes. I work at a ski area, so that is big problem if it happens! I could not find them to save my life, anywhere. And boy did i ever look.

About a week went by and i woke up out of a dead sleep to the memory of a weird noise when i got out of my truck days before. Snow had freshly fallen, but i didnt see any indents in the snow at the time so i thought nothing of it. In anycase, right then, after i had awoken to this memory at about 2:50 in the morning, i jumped into my truck. I drive all the way to where i had been parked by a snowbank next to a fire hydrant (on front of a girls apartment), i reached down into the snow and BAM! there they were. holy crap right?

Just a lil FYI for all you unfortunate people losing keys, I work parts at a dealership if you lose your keys just take your registration and current drivers liscense. They will be able to cut you a key for about 5 bucks using and application called dealer daily. There problem solved for your most important key right !?!?! Hahaha one time I went camping and my buddy somehow got his money clip stuck to my rear hatch and rode the 200 miles home with me hahaha

that sucks, I hope they show up for you. did you go anywhere that day?

hmm... my boss was out shooting once and left a 45 casing on his back bumper sitting straight up. it was there for weeks. made me laugh every time.

I also left my cellphone under the hood once. right on top of the headlight. that was lucky.

All these stories make me glad I'm OCD about my keys. They are either in my ignition, pocket or hanging up. Seperate set for giving to a mechanic if need be.

Sucks to lose your keys though.
I had an old integra that had a security system that would lock the doors and arm the car when you got out. One time I left my keys in the ignition - no spare. On the road all night, came back with my buddy (who is an electrician) he had some fish stick things, pried open the window and hooked them.

Then a week later someone smashed into it and drove off. Hah

One time I offered a Craigslist ride share up to Mt. Hood Meadows for a day for snowboarding, and while we were all riding on the slopes my keys fell out of my pocket because I forgot to zip it up. Needless to say these 3 strangers were not happy when I told them we would have to wait for a friend to drive up a spare key from 1.5-2 hours away. Hahah....I bought a hida-a-key box after that.

Yup, looked for my keys everywhere. Keyless entry with the little lcd screen remote. Nice set up. Couldnt find them anywhere. My wife is notorious for losing the keys. One day we found them only because it started beeping because of low battery. However when I lost them. I was so sad I went out to wash the Runner to have some alone time.....Thats what that crushing sound was. They were somehow left in the perfect spot the other day when I closed my hatch, they got crushed....yeah I have no idea how I didnt notice.

Key Stories? I've got em.

When I was a kid, my dad took my sister and I out for a swim in one of the local rivers. It wasn't particularly fast water there, but it did have some current. Most of the river bed had weeds growing, so anything that made it to the bottom nearly impossible to find. It was near a golf course, so had a game of it in finding golf balls.

As the sun made it's way towards the horizon, we started gathering up our snorkeling stuff and bucket of golf balls to head to the car when my dad looked around, suddenly panicked. He looked at my sister and I and asked if he had given us the keys...

He had never taken them out of his pockets before getting into the water, so with the sunlight just about gone, we grabbed the snorkels and jumped back into the water. How we found those keys before the sun made it down, I'll never know, but we fully expected a long walk home.

(My poor dad! Haha!)

Years later, I was home for a weekend and the first Lords of the Rings movie was still in theaters and we decided to see it. I remember pressuring my dad to fill up the gas tank on the way there since we had plenty of time before the movie started and it was out long enough that we didn't anticipate any lines, but he would have none of that just in case there was a line for popcorn.

After watching the movie, we start walking out of the theater and he pats his pockets and mumbles a choice adjective apparently describing his keys and lets me know we need to check where we were sitting. No dice. So we talk to the people cleaning up the theater, and tell the people at the ticket counter he lost his keys. They take down his number and promise to call if they turn up. After all that, we proceed out into the parking lot to see if they were dropped on the way in. I tried nagging my dad the entire time about his carelessness, but it was little use, he couldn't hear me over the sound of the nearby freeway.

Within a few minutes we make it to the car, and there in open view on the dashboard is his cell phone... so much for easily calling for help, since I didn't own a cell phone then. That's when it hit me... the keys were in the ignition. In the on position. I placed a hand on the hood and it's warm to the touch on a cold night. I yelled over the sound of the freeway at my dad about locking the keys in the car, with the car running. To which he smiled, opened his door and got in proceeding to buckle his belt. I shook my head, climbed in convinced it would run out of gas before he could put it in reverse. Apparently you can't lock the doors from the outside if it's running... how we made it to a gas station, I'll never know. One of the few things he said the rest of the night was "This is something we will never speak of to anyone"... hello world.

A couple years later... Oh how far the apple has fallen...

I had my first new car, a 2003 Neon. CHP managed to convince me it was a better idea not to take my '84 on the pavement again, and in my walking the first dealership I came to was a Dodge dealership and bought the cheapest car with A/C on the lot... oh how I wish I would have just kept walking. Suffice to say, bought.

At the time I was working a bunch of overtime, and nearly always barely awake. One night a little too close to sleeping and decided to pull over and sleep on the way home from work. I got about 45 minutes into my nap before a flashlight was in my face and a very curious police officer asking how much I had to drink. After explaining I was on my way home from work and so exhausted I decided to just pull over and sleep some rather than wreck he was satisfied and told me to drive home, he even offered to follow and hit the siren if it looked like I was about to fall asleep and go into the orchard!

Once I got home, I decided the night felt good and I'd just sleep on the lawn furniture in the backyard. The next day I discovered I was locked out. Luckily I didn't have to work that day, so I searched everywhere I could between the house and the car, around the pool. They were just gone. My Ace Hardware spare key was able to unlock the door and turn in the ignition, and start the car for a second or two, but that was it, found out the car had an immobilizer. By this point my '84 Toy was once again street legal, so I drove that for a few days hoping the keys would turn up.

After about two weeks, I'd given up. I called the dealership back (who had said around $300 for a key when I realized my spare was worthless) and asked that I just stop by to have them match my current key and new key to the car. That was when I found out they needed to have the car to program the key to it. I had to tow the car, to the dealership, to get a key.

After becoming an official AAA member, I had the car towed to the dealership, had the new key made and drove home. I walked inside, and there, on the floor, was the dog. Chewing on a rabbit's foot keychain. With the original car key on it.
