I just noticed we have the same rear bumper! I had no clue that you could fit a ladder behind the gas/water swing out!!! Now I'm intrigued..any clearance issues? By chance, do you know if that ladder would work on my bajarack?

Thanks Ben, your truck was a real inspiration to pull this off...... and thats right... that's what some of my friends were asking me not to change "the storm trooper look".

I have the baja short rack and the gobi ladder fits just fine. Doesn't even come close to touching...

Thanks Dave I appreciate the feedback and you're correct, I've been lurking for quite a while and really took ideas from a couple threads out here.

The eerie most difficult part of this is the cutting...... you better measure, then measure again, then again, then have your buddies double check... then hold on for the ride as you see your bud (in my case [MENTION=632]toyo[/MENTION]) starting to cut as you hold the thing. :surfer:

Nahh it really wasn't that bad, nerve wrecking at the beginning YES but once you get in the groove things start to smooth sail.

Also, before you measure and cut make sure you have your bumper lined up the way you want with shims and stuff to get the desired pitch and yaw angles.... then tight the *&^ up and then's when you start measuring :drummer:

Are you cutting something besides the rear bumper skin/cover? I have seen at least one other rear bumper (4x4Labs on bimrunner's rig), that cut out and replaced the entire rear cross member.

Is there anything like that going on here or just high pucker cutting the skin to fit? (Yes, it would be super high for me as well!! Just trying to figure out exactly *how* high it would be :-])

Thanks Jeff, and yes just the bumper skin.... you would be surprised as to how easy is to take that back bumper off.

The Hefty Fab is a bolt on bumper and its a straight install, but requires cutting of that factory bumper (skin) and obviously the relocation of the license plate and light.

I think I'm going to go with Smittybilt as well since I can get it here in canada and it is a lot cheaper than warn, I looking at getting the X20 since is water proof and comes with the wireless remote I believe, I can get it for $550 CAD and it is 10,000 Lbs. I'm just wondering if you had any problems installing yours since they are the same brand I think they should be similar.

Hey man not problems at all and a relative straight up install, I just got creative with the positioning of the control box, they include plenty of mounting brackets to get creative.

See this one picture for more detail, I wish I had taken more close ups of the setup but hey.....

And you can sort of see the box sitting vertically to the right of the frame....

As you can see its mounted right on top where it should be by using their "L" brackets on top of the other mounts.... this way the thing sits straight up and the plug points forward to where you can access it through the grill without having to cut anything on front, you just have to line it up to one of the holes.

I've been admiring your build out when we pass in traffic once or twice each week....great to find this thread and get the details. Our morning routes have us passing in opposite directions along Perimeter Center / Summit. Great looking rig!

From the ATL heading to CO..... made it to Kansas City last night and about to get on the road, would love to meet some folks in Denver and perhaps run a trail our two..... or just have some beers. Plan is to head down too Moab by Tuesday morning and enjoy as much of canyonlands Nat park before heading back to Denver Thursday and ultimately back to Atlanta on Sat morning.
