Too many Miles??

I just bought an 03 Limited V8 with 125K on it for 9800.00. Needed some tires and basic service items. Overall I have less than 11k in it and it needs nothing but the oil changed for the forseeable future.

Was the timing belt done??? If so GREAT.

I was worried about the same thing. I bought an 04 V8 with 147K for 9,000. I asked the same question here and was reassured that it was not that big of an issue. I checked the Owners site VIN number and found out the oil was changed like clockwork at a Toyota dealer every 5K miles. The only thing that was not done was the timing belt so I had that done right away. So far so good. I think I am going to try that seafoam thing as the gas mileage is not that good. I drive my bike any time I can in the summer anyways so this will be more of a winter ride for short commutes to work and then towing the boat/ATV's. I would go for it if you can get it down in price. Use the gas costs as leverage.

Wow what was the previous owner thinking, not having the timing belt done by 147K? :wtf:

I know, I was thinking the same thing. I saw a belt replacement on the service history and called the dealership in Boston. They told me it was the serp belt. They also said they knew the car and it had a excellent service record. They recommended the timing belt but he declined. I then got lucky and found some paperwork in the top glove compartment shelf that revealed the owners name. I called and asked him if there was any problems and he said no, he was the only owner and just wanted a new car because it was getting high in miles. He used it for business so it was on the road a lot and he had no family and did not smoke. He said it was a great reliable car and only used the 4 LO a few times to get out of the snow in the driveway. He also never towed or went off road. He also told me the combination on the key fob so now I have remote start! I'm starting to really like the V8, it kinda grows on ya!
