took the 4runner to the Arizona Strip...

For those that don't know, the Arizona Strip is the area of land between the southern border of Utah, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Off road wise, there was nothing that the stock 4runner couldn't handle, i could have probably pushed it harder in some other areas, but being as far as 90 miles south of the nearest town (St George Utah), and w/ just the g/f in a single vehicle, i wasn't risking too much.

anyway on to the pics.....

just random pics from along the drive wondering around ... we have video as well, but i haven't edited anything yet.

and of course it couldn't be a 100% trouble free, the last trail leading out, we hit something that broke the belt in the rear tire. I have been wanting to upgrade the tires from the cheapo remington's that the used car lot put on it, and this was the perfect chance .... not financially of course, but when is it ever? anyway the new "shoes" ...

got a pretty good deal on craigslist for the set of 4. Yes i'm sure i'll be switching them to black out in the very near future! I'm also looking for a couple more wheels like this for spares, and if anyone needs some spare tires, i'll have 3 up for grabs in southern california as soon as i get a chance to dismount the 5 stars and get them up for sale.

Nice pics stick, the BFG's should treat you alot better than your old tires.

That is one of the nicest areas in the world. It makes you feel so small when you drive through those huge canyons.

yeah the old tires were junk even when new, but i couldn't see getting rid of brand new tires when i (at the time) wasn't do much off road driving. the truck all ready drives noticeably smoother w/ these tires than the old, now i just have to find time to really try them out.

i just wish i could find a way to live closer to a place like that and still get to play w/ cars all day like i do now.

i love the stock 5 stars myself, but i needed tires, and these were a good deal. I just got an email back on some FJ Cruiser wheels, so those may be in the future now that i have the 17" tires all ready.
