Thanks for sharing. That was fun to watch. Stinks they need to to go back & fix & retrieve the runner though. That rollover was scary.
Even if I had an appropriate vehicle, I’m too old for that stuff.

That was what I thought at first, but then I realized I've seen every episode and knew it couldn't be. I guess we just have to wait until the fall to see what they come up with for the Amazon show.

In the final season of UK Top Gear there was a great episode where they take pickups out in the snow in Canada. I recommend checking that out if you haven't. Season 22, Episode 6.

Cool episode, but they suck at spotting. "Turn right!" "Turn the other way!"

I realize they were trying to be more entertaining than useful, but still... definitely could have saved that 4Runner. I halfway think they wanted to roll it over to test the exo-cage.

And as usual with these type of shows, I wonder what type of rig the cameramen were driving?

Pretty sure they had real spotters and the roll was staged and one of the vehicles had to break down and probably the guys didn't even drive most of the time. It's a TV show and was written out well in advance on what was supposed to happen. Camera angles don't lie when it comes to staging.
 
That was hilarious but there is no way I would subject my lovely 4runner to such potential for damage. I'll stick to the dirt trails, that road was just to brutal for me.

Yup. That's how Top Gear works. Very scripted - which works well when you have entertaining presenters.

I choose to believe, its more fun to watch Top Gear (UK and US) that way.

Its no fun to be a cynic all the time

That was excruciating to watch. They are going out of their way to exhibit bad stereotypes of off roaders ( gunning it everywhere, flying around in parking lots, running into each other, etc.) and the constant one upmanship and shitty jokes was unbearable. There was no real wheeling advice or technical knowledge displayed and they portray the Rubicon as nothing more than a difficult trail, when it's way harder than they made it look. I wouldn't be surprised if their vehicles were airlifted to various spots on the trail, filmed and them airlifted again. And I'm gonna call major BS on fixing the leaf pack on the Bronco with duct tape and zip ties. No f'ing way that would hold up to the Rubicon or any other trail.
 
The US version is definitely staged and scripted lol.

I cannot watch the US version. I tried watching some 4x4 build once - and they showed literally nothing - 5 minutes of footage, the rest of the episode was a BS story about turning a VW Jetta into a "truck". Never watched the US version again haha.
