I used to like the British version, but the American version is growing on me. I get tired of the Pro-British/ Anti-American biases on the original show. They lost me when they tried to portray the ZR-1 as a piece of junk.

I agree with u KC 100%! The anti-U.S. bias... so predictable. I still watch the uk version but prefer ours.

I agree. The anti-American--or really the anti-anything-not-UK bias--gets old and is now predictable. And the US version is growing on me, but it's not quite there yet. The host interaction between the US stars isn't quite on the level of the interaction between the UK stars, yet, IMO. And that's what makes the UK version more entertaining to watch for me.
And I missed the premiere last night, but judging by the History Channel website's description of last night's episode and the next episode, it looks like the rest of this season will be a winner.

Last nights episode was fkn hilarious. My sons and I were laughing our asses off. But then Ive always thought the US version was funnier. I do like the dry british wit tho. My sons are huge fans of Tanner Faust who they've met at drifting events at Irwindale Speedway.

Just watched it. It was pretty funny. I thought it was cool that one of the "college cars" was a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi....I had a 1991 Mitsu Eclipse GS Turbo. Man, that was a great car. Brought back a lot of memories.
Anyway, I like the light-hearted approach of the US show. They don't pretend to be serious automotive critics like the Brits do. It's just a fun show to watch. I think the all-time best episode was when they went to Alaska in 4x4s and were always being stalked by the Toyota.

Yes that was one of my favorites. Also the one where they crossed the desert to Vegas. It was a Jeep, a Bronco and a ...? Can't remember the 3rd truck at the moment.
That's funny I had a 1990 eclipse GS with a clarion (Benzy box removable deck). Good times indeed.
Good first episode, I DVRed the entire season.

I agree. The anti anything but German crap gets annoying a predictable. I was watching the U.K version on Netflix last night and couldn't get past 3 ep. It was so damn annoying.

The UK version will always be better until they replace the hosts. You can't imitate 18-19 seasons of on screen camaraderie (The Hamster wasn't an original host, he came in second season I believe). The US version tried too hard to put this into the show.
Now about the hating on US cars. They have a point 99.9% of the time. We do not make many good sports cars. Don't get me wrong, I am all about some f*** yeah 'Merica. But even as we speak, we are not on a Ford Explorer/Chevy Tahoe/Dodge Durango/Jeep Cherokee forum, we are on a Toyota forum. And yes I know some Toyotas are made here, but some of your GMCs are knock of Vauxhall with motors made in Mexico.

Me too, I want to love it (US version), but I don't. Adam Farara is sooo not funny. Anyway, Top Gear UK is tops (even if they think their British cars are superior to others.............). Whatever, they are improving which is a good thing..........

I agree with this. I thought they had no chemistry in the first season and was really disappointed. They are much much better now. Enjoyable and funny.

I agree it is getting better quickly. But I am unsure of how I feel about the direction they are taking the show. Unlike the UK version, they mainly stick to domestics. I think if they venture away from this and show the American view on import like what we all drive here, it will make the show better.
You sir do not understand that all it takes to play the game is a ball. Therefore, even in the poorest of countries, the game will be played. Maybe as an ignorant American you think everyone watches American football. This is not even close to reality. Get outside the US and no one cares about it. You may say soccer sucks, but it is the world sport.

I'm the first guy to call out American quality, but the British and Germans don't exactly make bulletproof cars either. (we're not on a Land Rover forum either, are we?) There are some good American cars out there, but Clarkson, in particular, is so predictable in his assessments it's a joke. The show just reflects typical British arrogance....to the point they make themselves look foolish.
Truth is, reviewing a car is pretty subjective, and I guess the predictability of their assessments is what's really getting lame. I still don't get it...why does it matter if a ZR-1 has leaf springs? Who cares if it has a pushrod engine? It's a $100k car that can perform with cars 2-3 times it's price!
BTW, Not sure what you mean by "knock-off Vauxhall". Vauxhall a brand of GM. If they've started to (wisely) manufacture world-market cars, good for them.
And, I actually think soccer is pretty cool. Anyone who doesn't respect it should try playing it.

As an 'ignorant' American who has been out of the country and traveled through europe, I understand the simple requirements of just needing a ball to play. Ive played the sport, as have my sons. That being said, soccer is BORING!!! Another thrilling 0-0 tie. I couldn't care less whether or not the world likes football, just as Americans couldn't care less about soccer. The soccer comment was only meant to yank ur chain. Mission accomplished. I guess us 'ignorant' Americans aren't sophisticated enough to understand the superiority of the uk version. Who needs it to bash us when we've got wankers like u.:wave: British cars do have a reputation; Unreliability. And what the hell do u mean that this is a Toyota Forum!!?
