topless 85 4runner, funny?

I took the top off of my 4runner and when on the road i noticed some people looking at me and laughing, I'm not sure why but even some children look and smile. Today I noticed one dude riding his bicycle and almost crashed because he was starring at it with a grin in his face.

Now, it's not like there's a lot of them in the Chicago area to begin with and the few that I've seen don't even have the top off. They probably think I chopped a pickup and installed seats and a roll bar.

Maybe it's just me but I'd like to know if anybody here has gotten a similar reaction.

I get some reactions like that. Mostly I get kids telling their parents to "look at that monster truck". I get people stopping me and talking to me about the 1st gen runner or old toyota that they used to have. I enjoy every minute of it. The 1st gen runner (especially topless) is somewhat rare and very unique. I absolutely love my 4runner.... except for the lack of power that the 22re has.

Sometimes you just have days like that. I know I've had days where I swear I have something on my face or in my teeth, people constantly staring. I think the reality is that it's in your head. Not that you don't have a nice rig, but I don't think they are laughing at you. You don't have truck nuts do you?

Of the maybe 10 first gen 4runners I can remember seeing, only 1 was topless, and yes, they do look a little funny.
