holly shit its 2014

well guys. time for an update. did a body swap. rebuilt the motor and i guess i did a shit job. lasted 1 year and went to shit. now i scored a 94 3.0 pick up with a blown head gasket and a 3.4 with 70 k on it for 1200. the 3,4 computer and harness were from an auto, so i assume im gona need a pc and harness out of a 3.4 manual. ill update the thread with pics off the swap tomorrow. look forward to any suggestions to make my life easier.

so doing 22re to 3.4 or are you swaping the second gen?
 
im putting the 3.4 in the 85 runner and using the 3.0 pick up for every thing i can. tranny etc. im gona do a little research to see if this is the right rear end to put in the runner. ill post up some pics after im done worken on it for the day.
 
thought i had all the rust out but had to keep fighting it. i found a cheap 88 body and decided to put it on my 85 frame.

withthat out of they way im installing the 3.4 with 70 k. got the motor in place now i have to mark where to weld the mounts, take the motor and tranny back out and weld em up. next i will start to worry about the plumbing and wiring. im also gona have to figure out how to change the drivelines while keeping them balanced. gona be a fun week.:rockon:
 
digging deeper into this project. come to find out my motor came out of an auto and my ecu is mt. plugs are different so i have to take out each pin and switch it to the mt plugs. all but 2 wires are the same, any chance i can swap color to color ? fk i dont wanna have to cross reference all the wires:dammit::rtfm:

on a good note, i got the mounts welded up and the crossover pipe works. pics comming.

I'd swap computers before I repinned the connectors. Hell, I DID swap computers before repinning connectors. Of course, then I ditched the stock ECU for a Megasquirt and had to build a harness from scratch and my junk still ain't running so maybe don't listen to me. :moping:
 
lol thanks for the advise kid. been super busy with work and humting, and the guy who owns the garage my runners in, is hunten in idaho. im all done but have to do the wiring and drive lines. all done lol. look foward to updating soon. ps, you tryin to say id be better tryen to make a my rig work with a auto ecu as apposed to maken the new plugs? all kind of new to me. where the **** is badvision?
