Torn on Tire Size

Trying to determine what size tires to order,

I acquired a set of 5th gen off road pro wheels and did 3rd gen Tacoma (probably 2" or so front) and 1.5" rear Bilstein springs.

I don't want to deal with rubbing (or barely any at all at lock).

Between 255/75R17's and 265/70R17. Any thoughts?

I love the 255/75-17's. I also run 255/85-16's on my Tacoma, so I am biased to the narrow tires. Eliminated a lot of rubbing problems while still giving you ground clearance. I don't have problems keeping up or beating trucks with wider tires.

Maaaaan the tall and skinny 255/80/17s are amazing tires to acquire...you can find them on the Cooper ST MAX, Yoko Geolanders, Wlidpeaks, etc...worth looking into...a 33" tire is phenomenal on these rigs! If you have a choice, go tall!

Neither will cause rubbing. What is your goal? big as possible, off roading, comfort on the road, cost, fuel efficiency etc?

I also agree with 255 80 17, unless you've got other goals. Youll always want to go bigger and the 255 80 17 are a good size without complications

This is primarily a daily driver. I drive about 30 miles a day for work so a little less of a hit on mileage would be good. I don't really plan to offroad much and tire cost being reasonable is nice.

Been running 255/80/17r and daily drive my truck with no problems. I will echo what everyone says about the skinny tires they're great. The only down side is they don't look dope in pictures so you'll suffer when it comes to instagram clout.

I think either the 255 75 17s may be a good option - a lot of time you can find this tire in jeep take off size - so check facebook marketplace. I ran the 265 70 17s for a while as I got a great deal on falken wildpeaks at that time. I was happy and I think thats the size the 4th gen 4runner should have come with.

My vote is for the 265/70R17

I second this. Minimal rubbing and can be easily trimmed

Even one size up you'll get slightly better highway fuel mileage but lose some torque.
I went from stock 265 65 17 to 265 70 17 and regret it as when I tow my trailer, it hunts for gears on the highway right at 65mph.

The TRD Pro wheels (I assume you mean the fancy looking ones) have less offset compared to stock wheels. This means they will swing your tire further front and back, and you will have less clearance. There's a youtube video on an aggressive 265/70r17 clearance with stock ride height on stock wheels, and that's a good approximation of when the suspension compresses with a lift. It barely clears front and back. 255/75/r17 is even taller.

I'd go with 265s. They're the same width as stock, but only taller. You might get away with not pushing front fender forward at all; if not, it would be very minor.
