I did do a search....and as title says...it could be me getting forgetful.
I had my last 4runner for 5 years. lived in the hills. Had this one now for 4+months.....285k....but supposedly tranny was replaced at one point 6 years ago...according to previous owner.
the fluids are full, clean, red, dont smell. Today was first day that temps have been above 25 since owning. My torque pro adapter was at home ( why ?) so could not check trans temp at the time. Otherwise shifts fine...just like it should....idles at about 750 rpm....55 mph on th eflats is just over 1500....stomp on it and get no slipping. At least for now.
Anyway....today leaving the gas station that has a slight incline....the 4 runner wanted to roll backwards if my foot was off the gas or at idle.
I dont rember my old one doing that and if was a steep hill I always had my foot on the brake. But I dont remeber the old one doing it at this same gas station and dont rember this one doing it either... but today was the longest I have ever had to sit on that incline to pull out.
could be just me..... not paying that much attention in past.
I have been critical of this 2001...its got lots of issues and now I pay extra attention to every little wiggle, vibration, noise. It was....as they say....rode hard and put away wet....its had a hard life. I recently thought I had a flex plate noise...ends up its the cat rattling now.
Am actually keeping my eyes open for a replacement, but the good ones are rare and usually sell real quick....like in a day.
