Torque Stacking?

I have a 2008 sports edition 4x4, she's only got like 2500 miles on her, and for the past few weeks I have been hearing movement in the rear end after coming to a complete stop, and then proceeding on, as if I was at a stop sign, or stop light. I brought it into the dealership and asked what is up, and they looked at it and said nothing was wrong and that it was normal.....they called it what I can remember torque stacking? Does anyone have this as well? Is this normal?

I think all the 5 speeds have it. It has to do with the propeller shaft. My wife's 03 GX 470 had the same clunk, but Lexus actually has a TSB for it. So I guess a fix technically exists for it, but Toyota isn't going to do it. Its only a matter of ignoring it, no harm will come. The 5 speed has proven itself to be a worthy tranny

It has nothing to do with the tranny at all. Its the air that isnt let out when the rear drive shaft is stretched and compressed releasing when you let go of the breaks and accelerate (it compresses again)

Run-on sentences! Its hard to follow what you are saying. I only said I think it has to do with the transmission. Where is the air located that gets compressed?

I believe he is referring to the slip yoke on the front and or rear drive shafts.

Sad to hear that this problem still exist on a 2008 model...Toyota should be ashamed of themselves!!

My '08 V8 Limited (automatic, 20k mi.) clunks badly. This occurs after coming to a stop. Lubrication doesn't help.

Dealer said it was a "binding slip yoke" and he expected a service bulletin or recall to remedy this problem. This was a couple of months ago. Today when I asked about it was like they were hearing about it for the first time.

I've owned Toyotas forever, but I think I'm done.

FowerRunner: Where did you find a 2008 with only 2,500 miles on it?? Or did you buy it new and just not drive it very often?
