What total chaos parts are you looking at? I just ordered a camburg Long Travel kit today, its a bit better value compared to the TC kits.

Not a chance they are mass produced products with different brand names on them. Although they will do the same job and both be quality parts.

Your setup isn't the long travel set up though. I think they are talking about the 3.5 wider 8" Long Travel set up.

Yep, not the long travel. The 2.5 is the Diameter of the gas shock in inches, which I believe is a fox shock, the coil spring says Total Chaos, and I think the housing is machined by Camburg, with the Camburg UCA. I would definitely recommend running both the UCAs with the coilovers. Either one of those setups are comparable to one another, Total Chaos/ Camburg. I love mine; adjustable, easy to install with 2 ppl, and turns on a dime. They are just more expensive than the package that is sold by Toytec. It really just comes down to $$$. The ultimate lift will really do the exact same thing, and do it well also. Many will debate one is better than the other but they both do about the same thing. Only difference is the UCAs sold by Toytec retain the upper ball joint where the TC UCA has the 'ball doo-hicky'. Alright, some step in and let me know which one is better than the other.:crazy:

Haha ya Camburg and TC use Uniballs, but I know they also offer ball joint control arms for some models. Uniballs are definitely the stronger choice, but I'm not sure how they will be for longevity on a daily driver.
The camburg kit is about $2400, with boxed lowers, uniballs everywhere except the upper control arm inner pivots. It's really a great value for what you get. The next weak link in the front are the horrible spindles, Total chaos makes a weld on gusset that I think is a must.

Both Camburg and TC's LT kit use the stock lower ball joints. IMHO, that is really stupid. I mean, we all know how awesome the LBJ's on these truck are......

That's funny I never noticed that....Although I've had lots of good luck jumping trucks with toyota ball joints.

yeah, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't be beefier up a bit, i had a buddy with a similar gen tacoma that used to launch his truck over the dunes all the time, did pretty well ....but it is a known fact our LBJ's are a serious weak point.

I guess its because of the weird BJ design, you'd almost have to go to a fabricated spindle to get a uniball in there.

i can't remember the name of the company, but theres one out there that makes a lower uniball for our gen 4runners. its got the uniball welded into a plate with a bent 'arm' piece for the steering. but it was like 700 bucks!!

See if you can't find the company, that sounds interesting
I'd love a beefier lower ball joint without having to go to LT
