Tough to turn

I've have searched but can't come up with someone describing the same issue I'm experiencing. I thought my truck steering was tight and was ok with it. I'm ok with my alignment while I finalize current suspension adjustments. What's going on is when wheeling and in the midst of an obstacle I can't turn the wheel much unless I'm rolling. For example yesterday trying to get through that notch I couldn't make the 10 point turn b/c I didn't have the ability to turn tires while not movingly. Another example, I can't turn the wheel very far left to right sitting in the driveway.

I'm thinking my pump might be bad. It isn't making any noise and I thought did fine. It is much stiffer than my other Toyota. After driving Bigfishallday truck in Moab mine is noticeably stiffer. Next time I want you to drive mine. I definitely can't turn the wheel with a finger.

History

-Last year I ordered the upgraded roller guide but somehow got the same model and not the newer. I used it anyhow thinking it may be helpful and tightened to same spot.
-I have flushed the power steering with proper fluid. I did find when I did this two things. One, this system was full with standard brownish power steering fluid. I wonder what effect this has had on this seals of the power steering pump and rack? Two, there was noticeable improvement in steering fluidity after the flush.

Ideas? Thanks

Flushed with ATF, correct?

Have you checked for any leaks? Condition of power steering belt?
Have you also checked tie rods, ball joints, and other front end suspension?

Hopefully I give you some idea or new thoughts..

I am not sure if the old roller style can be over tightened or not, I do know the new style can. I upgraded mine and had to change the tightness several times to get it right. First it was too loose then much too tight.

It would be an easy thing to check and wouldn't cost anything if it was the culprit.

Did you replace the steering guide to fix this problem? Has it been right since then? Does the steering return to center when Rolling on it own after a turn? If so, Back off that steering guide a turn or so and see if there's any difference.
