Tow Hitch Bolt help

I have searched and searched and searched....to no avail.

I recently purchased a Curt hitch for my 2000 4runner. The hitch comes with 4 bolts and instructs me to also re-use the four bolts that are supposed to be holding on the factory tow hooks.

When I crawled under the truck i discovered that not only were there no tow hooks, there were also no bolts. Upon further inspection I figured out that there was evidently a factory hitch on the 'runner at some point and it was removed.

After some searching I read that the bolts were M12 x 1.25. I purchased these, tried them, and could not get them to screw in to the tow hook holes.

I then tried M12 x 1.75. Same results.

I'm to the point where I'm going to take my chances towing with just the four bolts that came with the hitch unless someone can give me a better suggestion.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, the Curt bolts went in to their assigned spots perfectly. The hitch has two more holes per side for the factory bolts to secure. For a total of 8 bolts. Four Curt and four factory.

I should still have all 8 of my stock hitch bolts. Send me a pm to remind me to.look tomorrow and they could be yours for the cost of shipping.
