Tow Hitch Carriers

I am looking for a tow hitch carrier, and I did a search and came up with a bunch of ideas that people have already posted on here.
My biggest worry is the heat from the exhaust, I do not want to re-route my exhaust and I also don't want to melt whatever luggage/cooler I have on the carrier.
I was wondering if anyone has found a different set up, maybe one that raises the cargo above the exhaust? I do not really want to get a roof top carrier as my wife is vertically challenged, plus I am looking for easy on/off.

I have "Rola 59502 2" Steel Cargo Carrier - 2 Piece" sitting in my Amazon cart for a while. It's "designed with curved hitch mount to improve ground clearance" and I believe it might solve an exhaust problem.
