Having said that, 100 miles a tow truck would nearly as cheap as renting a trailer.
Any of you guys ever tow something with a tow dolly? It's not fun, and I'm not sure you're going to be able to get the "tongue weight" correct being so close to max load.
Don't have any friends with a 3/4 or 1 ton truck? I'd rent a flatbed trailer, buy lunch and pay for fuel. I know it's more money than just renting a dolly, but I think it's money well spent.
Thanks for the responses! I was wondering how the dolly would feel vs. a real trailer, I think the trailer is the way to go then. I will look into borrowing one.
Someone else said it, but renting a truck and a trailer from U-haul would be more expensive than a tow! I think I'll call some local tow companies to see about a quote. I would be taking a vehicle from the Bay Area up to Sacramento.
Do you still have my number? If so, text me. If not, message me. I'm visiting CH in a couple weeks and could tow it there for you.
Also, with AAA roadside I had a vehicle towed just under 200 miles for free basically, and it wasn't even under my name.
