Hey guys I finally towed my trailer with my 4runner this weekend. It's a 26' Sprinter holiday trailer and fully loaded weighs at least 6500lbs. It towed it great hills were not a problem I could still pull hills at 65-70mph no problem. I have a 2003 V8 Sport and I'm very impressed with this truck. Here's a pic.

I towed my enclosed car trailer (with car inside, ~5,600 lbs) this past weekend. On the trip out (up the mountains) I got 7.26 mpg (calculated) on the trip back (down the mountains) I got 10.20 mpg (calculated). Had I not tried to maintain 50-55+ mph going up the mountains or been running 60-65mph before/after the mountains I know my MPG would have been better.
As always, your mileage may vary....
BTW, the MPG display in my 4Runner was only .8 mpg higher than calculated when towing. Usually it is 2-2.5 mpg higher than calculated when not towing.

I went to ATL from Jersey, towing a big u haul trailer..
i spent around $500 just on gas.. every 2 hrs, i had to fill her..
fawkin suck... but I was flying, going 85mph.. damn thing is powerful

8mpg is some serious loading. I guess my tow is a lightweight in comparison:
Trailer is a Trailmanor 2720; slightly over 3,000 lbs. 2 kayaks on top. 2 bikes on the back.
I get about 16 mpg at 65mph towing, 23 mpg without (V-6, 2wd). Handling and power is good; significantly stronger than a previous Astro van I used. I chose the 4runner primarily for this towing purpose.

Man...you guys are making me jealous...especially Charlie 180....I have a 68 Roadrunner 10 years in the making thats done and I want to get it to NH by trailer,weighs about 4200 lbs,and the uhaul trailer is another 2000. To much for my poor V6 and I kinda to much for a V8...thats what I thought but looks like you did good Charlie 180. Guess I missed the boat with my rig....but its still sweet. I was worried about the brakes too.

My boat came witrh an under sized single axle trailer and after it failed a few years ago (nothing like being stuck by the side of the road cause your boat and trailer won't fit on anything)
I've been real paronoid about going on trips. So I just ordered a 21' galvanized tandem axle trailer made out west here by Pacific Trailers.
Now with the new 4runner sport I'll be in boating heaven this summer.:
