towing capacity

Anyone know right off hand what the towing capacity for a 05 sr5 is? I would guess 5k but I do not know what the hitch that comes stock could handle.

2WD V8 7200lbs, 4WD V8 7000lb weight distributing hitch.

I am looking to pull a yard and a quater of concrete and did not no if it would handle it. I have no idea what the concrete's weight is.

Yes, hitch was standard equipment on all V6s 2003-05. In 2006 it became an option. The factory hitch just mounts to the rear most cross member behind the bumper. There are no further attachment points. The V8 has a tubular hitch which also mounts to the frame rails.

If you have a heavy tongue weight you need to use a Hensley, Equalizer, etc. weight distributing hitch.

This hitch (through fulcrum principles) distributes the weight between all axles of the tow vehicle and trailer.

The 4Runner V6 hitch as stated above will not handle this stress. Some members have purchased an after market hitch or have retrofitted the V8 hitch for theses purposes.

Fresh concrete weighs about 3900 pounds per cubic yard using normal weight aggregates so you should be okay -- assume you aren't towing it 100's of miles. Remember your 4Rnr comes with the tow bar BUT no ball! Plus you will most likely need a round to a flat 4/5 pin connector ($8) for the lights - if it even has them.

Thanks for all the info. I was worried about tongue weight and the overall weight. I will only be pulling it about 12-15 miles.
