I see that the new 4Runners come with a hitch. Do they also come with a heavy duty radiator and tranny cooler? I don't see these as an option to add on when buying.

Towing/Cooling

My '03 V8 came with a small tranny cooler ahead of the radiator. I recall someone else posting that the V6 doesn't have that.

Toyota doesn't offer a "towing package", and I don't believe it's necessary. Toyota builds robust vehicles that can meet their tow specs with standard equipment.

I've towed a 4,000# trailer extensively with a '98 LTD and my current '03. Neither vehicle had any special cooling equipment. I've never seen the A/T temp light come on or had the coolant temp needle move above its normal position, even in the warmest weather with A/C on.

The v8 model comes standard w/ a tranny cooler but both v6 and v8 models come with a standard radiator. I'm not too sure if the tranny cooler is an option on the v6 model.

The V8 model also has a standard oil cooler, not listed as standard with the V6

The V6 has uses radiator return water to cool the engine oil. The heat exchanger is below the filter mount. I am not aware of a separate air cooler for engine oil on the V6.
