Towing package includes?

I bought a used '01 4R LTd with a towing package and have decided to use it to go cross-country. I want to pull a toy hauler and want to know what specifically a "towing package" includes. I finally found a toy hauler made for SUVs (Blast 150) and it weighs only 3400 lbs but with my motorcycle (Yamaha FZ1) and other toys it will come close to the 5000 lb towing limit. Does a towing package increase the towing capacity or just make it perform better?

The tow package refers to the hitch bolted onto the frame and the light harness.

I don't believe it included a transmission cooler which is a good thing to have. They are easy to install and most places do them.

If you are going cross country, add the cooler. Lock out overdrive when towing.

As far as weights, 5k is the max.

What hauler weighs 3400 lbs, and that's not including the bike? That sounds sick. Photo?

Yep,the tow package just means it's equipped with the hitch and usually the brake light connection.

I was told the factory towing package included, beefed up transmission - which I presume includes the cooling package. I know this is on there because when I changed the fluid I had to specify the heavy duty transmission filter because the std didn't fit. Also, it is supposed to include better cooling system and something else - suspension, brakes?

The Coachman Blast 150 weighs only 3400, Sweet! I've been waiting for this cos I wasn't going traveling without my bike. Here's a link to check it out

Why not just go back to the dealorship and ask them to tell or better yet show you what it means? Our 07 Rav4 came with the "towing package", but that only meant the tranny cooler. I had to install the hidden hitch and the wiring myself.
