I have an '05 SE V8 and I'm getting ready to move my girlfriend from WV to SC. Im gonna be towing a 6'X12' trailer behind my 4runner. My question for you guys is does my 4runner have a transmission cooler on it? or should I consider buying one?

If it came with the tow package from the factory, then yes.

I have an 04 SR V8. It came with the trailer package. With my config, it does have the transmission cooler. If you lift your hood and look down in front of the radiator, the transmission cooler is very visable.

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but here it goes....is the tow package from the factory the same thing as 'Weight-carrying tow hitch and ball mount kit', as stated on my window sticker? If it is, then why don't I have a tranny cooler on my 4R? Is it only on the V8 models? I do plan on towing with this thing, maybe not too much, just a small trailer with my quad on it, will I need a cooler? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Not a stupid question at all. I see that you have the v6 from your sig. The v6's do not come with the weight distributing hitch or the trans cooler. These need to be added aftermarket if you are going to tow 5000+. If you are just towing what you state I would not worry about it at all. The tow package is for the v8's only. By adding a trans cooler and weight distributing hitch you would in essence upgrade to the "tow package". Hope this helps!

The horn is just a touch louder than the stock, and it is a different pitch. It is just for fun. I put one on my motor cycle too.

Try JC Whitney (I think that is how you spell it) for horns, PA systems and such. also Griot's garage in cali... Griots is a little cheaper... griotsgarage.com

There isn't really a "tow package" per say for the 4Runner, unlike the '05+ Tacomas which got a heavy duty alternator and battery, supplemental engine oil and transmission cooler, and class IV tow hitch.

All V8s come with a weight distributing hitch (tubular hitch--mounts on frame rails), good for 7k lbs, except early 2003 which came with a weight carrying hitch (smaller hitch--mounts on rear most cross member) good for 5k lbs. All V6s came with a weight carrying hitch good for 5k lbs, which became an option on 2006+ 4Runners. All V8s have an additional transmission cooler pictured above.

For your 4Runner, yes, that's all the "towing package" consists of, the smaller hitch and ball mount kit.

My Canadian model also consists of the 7 pin wiring harness and a wiring harness for electric brakes. The Limited V8 also has an auctomatic adjusting rear suspension. These are features that I found of value for towing with my 4Runner

Well for US models, there isn't a "tow package" for the 4Runner. I got the brake controller harness/pigtail that goes under the dash and the 7-pin connector under the bumper as well. My 4Runner did not come with the weight carrying hitch.

From what some members have posted it seems that all Canadian 4Runners come with the same equipment for a given trim. There isn't any options really, either it's there for that trim or it's not. I could be wrong though, but that's the impression I got from reading some of the postings.

Tis correct. If it's a Limited V8, for example, it has all the same stuff as any other Canadian Limited V8, save accessories of course.
