I have an '03 4R 6 cyl 4x4 and will be towing my 95 mustang x-ctry. I tried to rent a car trailer and uhaul said that my 4r isn't rated to trailer my mustang with their trailer. any ideas?
Unless your mustang and trailer weigh over 5000lbs, your V6 will tow it fine, and is capable of it. Your manual should state this. My guess is your stang is probably low-3s and the trailer should be less than 1000lbs. Shouldn't be an issue.
You will need a brake controller though. Don't even attempt to tow without one.
Yea but where is he gonna rent the trailer from if Uhaul won't rent it out to him... I dunno
.. unless ofcourse he's able to tell them its another lighter car but he tows the mustang instead at the risk of voiding any coverage incase of accident.
Just go back to U-Haul again. they are a bunch of idiots around here. I only rent the trailers because i don't have one myself, but before I leave i make damn sure everything is intact on the trailer, and after a little driving, check the hubs. Just go back and ask to rent one again. If they ask what car just say a custom fabbed car. And if they ask the weight just say under 2.5k.
