Has any one run these tires yet? Specifically 285/70/17? And if so how did they fit? Any major fuel mileage loss? This would be for my girlfriends trail edition and she doesn't want to lose much mileage. Honestly I haven't even looked what size tires it has on it now lol

If you are going from a P tire to an E rated tire. You will most likely lose MPG.

If you don't want much fuel mileage loss stay as close to the stock size as you can, especially width and don't get more than a C load rating.

I would give them a go if they were made in 285/75x17. I liked my Duratracs but the sidewalls are weak. The R/T has same type of tread pattern, call it an Hybrid Mud/AT, but better sidewalls probably.

I have emailed Toyo to see if they are going to extend the sizes, and I am still waiting to hear back.

Mpg loss is not a huge deal just trying not to lose a lot of it

I lost about 1/2 mpg running E Rated LT265/70-17 Toyo Open Country M/T....

Best highway now typically 20.5 (always less than 70mph).
Around town about 16.5 ( 30 - 40mph)
Worst off road about 9.0 (all day in lo range less than 5 mph).

All mileages at 38 psig.

I'm running 285/65/18 toyo rt's and I can't complain. I'd like to say I took a 2 mpg hit since the install but oh well. Road manners are ok thus far and do hum at interstate speeds. Haven't had them out on anything extreme yet, extreme meaning sharp rocks that could puncture side walls or deep mud. They seem to be wearing well, I do believe that I've had them on for approximately 12k miles (most of which are highway) now and starting to show minor wear.

From what I have heard/read about the RT's is that they take the best qualities of both the AT & MT and combine them into a better compromise.

If you look at the specs/ratings on Toyo's own website you'll see that while the MT does best off-road and in mud, it has poor on-road rating (as you would expect) and surprisingly low snow rating (I'm guessing it has more to do with the rubber compound than tread.) While the RT is a more aggressive, but balanced tire.

I honestly was shooting for MT's on the 4Runner, but after seeing the RTs and studying them up, I think these are a better tire for a Daily Driver/Trail Rig that sees a fairly good amount of pavement when not crawling the trails.

Yep, I have them in 285/70/17...they've been on my truck as soon as the lift went on when I had 700 miles on my odometer. They are quiet in my opinion, somewhat heavy (~58lbs for the 285s), easy to balance, and wear very slow.
So far they have been great off road, in rain, and on dry pavement. In the snow and hard pack they are fine...on ice, they do slide, but so do most "aggressive" tires, just drive smart.

Overall I like them. I will likely buy another set when these wear out (might be a while if I get a set of winter tires)...but I may also opt for a set of KO2's or Cooper ST Maxx'. If you're on the fence though, I'd say go for the Toyo's. You won't be disappointed in the least.
