Toyo Open County AT III (AT3)

Was at the orange county expo over the weekend and learned that Toyo came out with an AT3!!

Would love to hear if anyone here put them on and their experience.

LOL. Of course they will. Right after I bought tires. I had been waiting for the AT III since I first posted about it months ago. But they had no release date back then.

I love the tread design, it will grip better in harder terrain than the AT II.

They have obviously addressed wet traction while keeping the tremendous tread life of the AT II.

The tread is similar to the Wildpeak AT3W but the Toyos should last much longer and also cost a lot more. So that will be an interesting battle in P metric.

In LTE, the AT III is very light but I am sure it lacks a 3 ply sidewall or they would have mentioned it. Still, I suppose it would be an excellent LTE option.

As for me, I am extremely happy with my Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 for now, they have been surprisingly great on road despite the LTE rating and they are as tough as any tire offroad with mud capability to boost. While they are heavy, they play extremely well with my heavy duty suspension on road and off.

Agreed - I need to get tires soon (lift shows up in the next couple weeks) and planning to go 255/80R17.

These tires were looking really good until the sizing, guess I'll likely go with the Wildpeak AT3W

I made a thread about this too. What I'm most excited for is the 285/75/17 C-rated weighing 59lbs. That size and ply rating I think is perfect for those who want an upsized tire.

I like the weight on the 285/75 as well but I think there may be mistakes on the published weights in the list on toyos website. Look at the difference in weights between the 285/70 options :suspicious:

Either way, I will be waiting on pricing and reviews/comments on these. I think the AT II's are only lacking in wet and snow traction so if these can even marginally improve on those areas I will give them in either the 70 or 75 aspect ratio a shot.

However, I have had two instances of sidewall hair pin punctures.

Also, it looks like they took out the "extreme" option

They had the same weight difference in the ATII's as well. For whatever reason white side walls are 3lbs heavier?? Without actually weighing their tire I guess we can only take their word for it and assume its correct.

The new ATIII's are now 3 peak winter rated. So it does indeed look like they've improved their compound and siping to earn that and get better snow and rain performance.

Sizing looks limited right now and seems like that's what they're going to roll out with initially. I'm sure they'll introduce more sizes down the road. With how popular the previous gen were I doubt a 285/75 will be the largest 17" option they'll offer.

For someone who would burn through a set of softer tires in 2 years, These make a lot of sense. As of today AT2s are $236, A/T3W $228 (285/70/17 e-rated @ discount tire) :hello:

X2 ... I can't believe how well the tread holds up.. I'm 4 years in and not even at half .

AT 2 reigns supreme

From 3 prior sets of ToyoAT2, and one set that survived a full nail and siding screw embedded in tread without puncture {e rated}, I have been and will always be a fan of Toyo tires.

Don’t even get me started on the set I had on my 2001 tundra that had half tread at 55k miles. Top Tier Toyo: golf clap on the new offering.

I really like the look of these, and the sidewall looks to be better looking than the ATS.

I don't see the comparison to the falken, to me they do not look similar.

I was just at my Toyota dealer yesterday having a recall done on my 4R, and saw that they are running a buy3/get 1 tires sale. I talked to the parts guy, and it's on any tire that they can get.

The parts guy wasn't even aware the new AT3 had come out, but he found it in the system. He gave me a price of $188/ea for the P265/70/17, which I thought was fairly reasonable. They're a little cheaper online, but I would have to purchase 4.

I think I'm going to go with them. Generally I don't like buying things that don't have any reviews out, but I want something different, all I see are K02's and Wildpeaks. The AT2's get such good reviews, I figure the 3's will be at least as good.

Mine is a mall crawler that sees 60 miles a day, no need for a super aggressive tire or E load. I'll just be doing mostly mild trails.

I have 285/70/17 C ordered and going on a week from Monday along with a Fox 2.5 set-up. These are still very new - they had to call in to order as the system still didn't show them as even existing.

Bumping the thread again as I'm thinking about these to replace my Nitto Terra Grapplers from Toyota.

Looks like Toyo does have a 255/80R17 pizza cutter in load E available now also (at about 53 pounds). Very tempting tire.

Anybody running yet?
