I can't decide which to get toyo open country mt or cooper discoverer stt. Also do you think e rated tires are too stiff? I ask because both of these tires in 265/70/17 only come e rated.

I've been a fan of Cooper tires for years. Never had a problem. Never used the STT though. My current coopers are the AT3's.

I'll second the nod for Coopers. I don't have the STT either, I've got the Zeon LTZ, and they're still pretty new, but so far, I'm sold on Coopers. This is my first set and so far I've been pretty impressed with them.

I've owned Toyo tires in a different application and I'm not really a huge fan. I AM a fan of Yokohama tires though.

Hope that helps.

Im running toyots on my 3rd gen right now but not by choice, i came across them for cheap with the wheels i wanted. But back to the tires i hate them especially after the 2nd half of its tread life theyre slippery when its wet and the tread seems to wear pretty fast and i only drive at the most 30 miles a day..

Ive had the Cooper STT in a 285 and now in a 35x12.50... And I LOVE them!

However I would have bought Toyo 35's if my rim back spacing would have been a bit more for a more agressive sidewall, but the sidewall of the Toyos rubbed my UCA, so I stuck with the Coopers and am still very satisfied I did

on a side note, to you guys that are running the stt's...what kind of mileage do you expect to get out of these tires? and did they affect your fuel mileage at all? thanks! -jcc4

I love my Cooper STTs! I have 285/70/17

As for gas mileage, they slow it down a bit, but I'm mostly city driving so I'm just putting around anyway. I love the look they give the truck.

When I had my 285's and was lifted at 3"...The drop in milage was not very noticible to me, but I also have alot of extra engine mods that suck gas... Also depends on what size you are wanting to use

Now that I have 35's what is gas milage ? LOL:banana:

I have had both Cooper SST's and Toyota MT's. Out of both, I prefer the Toyo's. Both sets were on my Dodge Ram running 35's. The Cooper's wore out pretty quick. The Toyo's were noticeably quieter on the road. I sold my truck before I could see what life I could get out of them. Both are good tires, I liked less tire noise on the Toyo's and most feedback was that guys were getting about 50k out of them. Just my 2 cents....

The coopers are a bit noisier than the Toyos. Not sure if you care, but just saying.

My brother has the Cooper SST on his and it's loud as any other mud tire. I went with the Kelly Safari TSR and I think he's decided to go that route next time. They're quiet, agressive, great on-road and great off-road and I'd recommend them any day, but if you want a TRUE mud tire, go with the Toyo
