Howdy folks,
Guess I'm not really a Toyo noob since I've owned 2 Corollas but never owned a Toyota 4x4. All the reviews look pretty good except for maybe fuel mileage. Torn between a 4Runner, FJ Cruiser or Land Cruiser (or Lexus varients) so I'm just out searching to learn more about them. I'm working in Afghanistan so I don't need a rig right now but I gave my step daughter my 96 Corolla so now I don't have a economy car to drive when I finish up over here.
For fuel economy I'm also looking at the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel but man they want some big $$$ from what I've found so far. Looks like the Lexus LS460 does well on the highway and gets around 30mpg if you're just loafing along at 80 mph but I can't or won't spend that much coin for a car plus an suv so I'm looking for a good blend that gets good fuel mileage but gives me a rig that's good off road. Too bad Toyota doesn't have their diesels in the US like the ones they have here. Toyota diesels are everywhere and too bad I can't take one back home with me.
Part of my search is to find out about importing the 4.5L Toyota diesel or maybe one of their large 6 cyl diesels for installation into a 4Runner. Otherwise the Jeep is looking pretty good. Maybe by the time I finish here then Toy will have something to offer us diesel heads. As it is now my dually Duramax gets almost the same mileage as the gas rigs so I'm trying to justify an additional purchase for a work rig. Maybe I'll get lucky and find another job that supplies a work rig but those are few and far between.
Ok, enough rambling but you get the idea on what I'm trying to find. Now to search for diesel posts/threads. Enjoy your day!
Goats.
