www.rockauto.com has the spartan locker for 250+shipping this is the best deal i have found anyone have any better locations for locker deals?

too bad they're 4cyl.
I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter - the differences between the various thirds are all external, aren't they?

The thirds are different between the 22re and 3vze trucks. I think the only difference is the number of splines on the outside - the guts should be identical. But I was wrong about the 3vze transfer case too, so let's wait for Hyde to come around and slap me down.

they have the 5.71 ring and pinion sets for the 8 inch also for 160$ !!!!!
the 7.5 inch locker is 250 as well.
i didnt see a 6cyl one except the Eaton and that was 577$

v6 (and 4cly turbo) and 4cyl thirds are just slightly different! They use the same splines (30) so the whole 3rd will swap, but the bearings are different. The carrier bearings on a 4cyl are 45MM and the Carrier bearings on a v6/turbo diff are 50 MM.
I think ARB makes conversion bearings...but dont quote me on that.

You know what? PM Zuk on yotatech to be sure, but I'm gonna go with yes. The Spartan locker is contained entirely within the carrier, the bearing size shouldn't even come into play. But I'm no expert, check with the Man before you pull the trigger.
Or dig around some, if they've got "4cyl" locker for that cheap the "6cyl" probably is too.

Sorry, kid v, but I dont think so, I believe a 4cly locker needs to be in a 4 cyl carrier. I also think you can only put v6 parts in a 4cly housing, not the other way around.
It would be cheaper to buy the locker, then find a 4cly 3rd in a junkyard or on cl (most can be had for under $50) then put the locker in that, and put that in your truck.

You could be right, but I don't see why. The Spartan fits entirely within the carrier - the carrier bearings are invisible to it. I'm just basing my opinion on what I've seen in my own 3rd, but if the carriers are identical between the 4cyl and the 6cyl 3rds, it should fit.
By which I mean, it's worth asking ZUK.

I can't speak to the V6, but the 4cyl carrier is wide open. To install the Spartan, all I had to do was pull the center pin, and the spider gears and such basically all fell out. Based on that, OCMike, it's almost certain that the lockers are not interchangeable. The carrier itself will have completely different internal dimensions.
