Toyota 4runner 2005 4wd 1kz-te silverbuild thread

Well I'm from Panama City, Panama. That's why I have the 1kz-te, in panama we also have some v6 and v8, but the gas in panama is more expensive than the diesel, so the people buy more diesels than gas engines. My mom bought this car in December 2005 from the dealer. The only problems until now are the dashboard cracked for the second time and the compressor of the air conditioner. My mom gave me this car so I can go to the university, as a gift. I was planning to buy an fj cruiser, but in Panama there are a lot of fj cruiser with mods and is normal to see. But you never see a 4runner with mods, so I decided to stay with the 4runner and put in her some good mods and be different. The only thing that I will missed is the v6 sound jejjejee.

Cool!!! The hood scoop actually does something. The US models the hood scoop doesn't do anything.
That sound system looks pretty awesome.

This Diesel engine is awesome I had put her on the 180km/h top speed in the highway Jajajaja a little crazy. The consumption is 14.1 litter/100km. I love the ride of the car, the stand and how it looks. My parents had before a 3th gen I also loved that one but this is way much better.

Thanks to all of you, the sound system looks pretty awesome and left a little of space.

Is that your average mpg or just when you drive fast? I would have thought a diesel would do better then that.

The 1kz-te is the older generation of diesel engines that is still using port injection instead of direct injection like most diesel engines. The 1kd replaced the 1kz in later year 4runners/helix. It also have valve timing, better ecu, and of course direct injection that supposedly is 11% more fuel efficient and 17% more powerful.

Still the 1kz-te is pretty cool. Im sure if you up the boost you could squeeze some power. Of course a larger turbo wouldnt hurt.

The 4runner was only build with the 1kz-te until 2005, after this year they only produced it with the v6 or v8. The only car that brought this engine until 2009 was the Toyota land cruiser prado 150.

The 1kd-ftv is the new common rail Diesel engine with direct injection. I think it is like 30% more efficient, my father has an hilux vigo 2008, an the consumption of this engine is awesome, although they have problem with the injectors.This engine comes with the Toyota hilux Vigo, Toyota fourtuner, and the new land cruiser prado 2010-present. I like the power of that engine and the fuel efficient.
