As a former Yota owner and current Ford owner, Im sure you can attest to the higher quality of a japanese made vehicle!Im kidding with you Jeff Kleb, but in all seriousness I want TOYOTA to stay as Japanese as much as possible..
Oh yes, I agree with you about the quality issue of Japanese vehicles. That being said, Toyota Tundras and Tacomas are made here......and there's nothing wrong with either of them.
I have owned a Tennesee-built Nissan Sentra and it was a fine car. My current Mexican-built Sentra is doing okay, and is soon going to have 97,000 miles on it.
It matters more about how well a car is built -- than where it is made. There are many vehicles that are assembled in the USA that have racked up gazillions of miles.
I'm basically satisified with the quality of my Mustang GT (which was built in Michigan), and think that more of our so-called quality issues involve engineering and management rather than the actual workers.
Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi all assemble vehicles stateside and don't seem to have any trouble selling them. Likewise, it appears that the 'domestic' companies are trying to build stuff elsewhere (i.e., Mexico) and ship it here.
