Can someone find what module the Prius or Landcrusier uses for bluetooth for there nav?

So the bluetooth requires a separate module? I thought it was just built into the unit already and just had to associate a device to it.

To my understanding it is a seperate unit that works in conjuntion with the Navigation unit.

I was just thinking about that yesterday.

We have pretty much used all the plugs on the back of camry/solara nav except one. I would bet this remaining plug is for the bluetooth module.

as far as I can tell, from looking at the land cruiser and prius wiring diagrams and new car features list, it's not a separate module, but rathe something built into the "multi-display unit" which isn't an all-in-one nav unit as we're using. it's more along the lines of a whole mess of ecus tied together, there's a nav ecu, a gateway ecu, a television camera ecu, a/c operation ecu, multi-display (which contains the bluetooth module and the lcd display), and a radio/player,

NOW! the only thing I see that pops out is the Data Link Connector 1&3 labeled connector D1 and D7 on the landcruiser (only saw D1 on the pruis, may have overlooked the others)...but this very well might just be one of those connectors like the OBD-II interface...D1 is located in the engine compartment of the LC, D7 is located just to the right of the steering column in the dash. Hmm...

upon further research into the repair manual for the LC, it would appear when there's a problem with the blue tooth function, the solution is to replace the multi-display, not a separate bluetooth module, which leads me to believe that bluetooth is built into that unit...

That sucks... Reason I figured was in Japan, they are going to release a bluetooth module for Eclipse headunits..
