I rebuilt my CV's and just used regular CV axle grease. Never knew there were color options. Do the bottles give a discription of the differences of any kind?

Not at all :/ Just the part numbers for each bottle. Googling the part numbers brings up nothing. No instructions of any sort in the box, either. Not that it takes much instruction, other than knowing which grease is which lol

But they both claim to be CV axle greese? If its a kit supplied by toyota they may have sent you extra diff fluid cause you'll leak a little out once you pull the inboard CV tulip out. smell them and rub a little on ur finger you should be able to tell cv axle greese is thick like greese were diff fluid smells like ass and feels like oil. And they dont sale the 80w-90 non synthetic "toyota approved" diff fluid in quarts you have to buy some from there barrels at the dealership. plus you have to get there friction modifier from them to its stupid. off topic but i think they've approved switching our diffs over to a 75w-90 full synthetic that doesnt take a friction modfier but you have to flush out the old stuff cause they dont mix well. lol I even tried searching google for you and couldnt find anything about different color greeses or anything. I would go by some CV greese from a parts store something i know is gonna hold up to the abuse those things take. I even put tundra boots on mine so i could pack extra greese in there lol the tundra boots are a little longer but my angles are pretty steap running a lift.

It's def not diff fluid. They're both grease. And they both came in the CV rebuild kit for the truck. I work at O'Reilly's but I'd rather use this stuff I paid for from Toyota haha. I wish we would have had this discussion sooner, though. I would have gone with a tundra rebuild kit since my angles are SUPER extreme. I gotta figure out this diff drop thing lol

Now it makes sense. Both of my inboards were ripped and the grease looked milkeshake color. I thought it was from mixing with water, but seeing your grease, it is obvious now. The ligher color goes inboard, the darker out. You can confrim that with the post a few days ago with the guy that was replacing his clamps. This one link
