Toyota Finance = Bunch of idiots

What a complete group of moronic, inbred idiots.

My wife and I bought a 2010 Tundra Rock Warrior AND a 2010 Camry LE last november.

The Camry we still have.

My wife setup the automatic payment for September online for the Tundra, but selected the Camry account when setting it up (honest mistake). We had our baby on the 12th and the payment was setup for the 13th (A few days before the due date).

I traded the Tundra in for my 4Runner on 9/23. When I traded it, we were just a couple days past the payment due date (never paid it as we were going to trade it in anyway), but well within the grace period. I emailed Toyota to tell them of the trade and they'd be recieving payment from "such and such" and that my wife had made a payment on the Camry in the amount that we normally pay on the Tundra, but we weren't changing it because the Dealer gave us full payoff on the truck. (extra payment on the Camry)

12-13 days go by, Toyota still hadn't recieved payment/payoff. Not my problem. Apparently someone at TFS saw the "mistake" and flipped the large payment on the Camry to the Tundra account, the next day, the dealer payoff came in. Account was a couple days late so there were $40-50 in late charges, all if it was paid from my "payment getting moved" and the payoff, and the account was closed.

We make the Camry payment in October (they still showed we had a smaller payment because our last payment was bigger than normal). So we paid the smaller amount, the amount they gave us.

We get called from TFS that we're behind $800+ suddenly. ($500 payment was moved over and removed from the account)

I talk to them for hours explaining the issue, no one understands or they can't do anything because the Tundra account is now closed. FINALLY, I get into customer service. A guy there, really nice, finds the mistake, says there is a $430+ overpayment and I can get my refund by check or transferred straing to the Camry account. I just ask him to move it to the account because that is where I wanted it in the first place, the $50-60 missing is fine, I'll pay it on my next payment. He said it was a done deal and I hang up the phone.

The Collection calls stop, for one week. I get a call today, I owe $800+. WTF! I talk to them, they examine the account and read notes to me. They found the amount, but now they're saying ALL of the $500 was used to close the account.

(29,093 - dealer payoff + 500ish) - (Actual Payoff, 29,093 + late charges) = +$430ish I've already been told this by one CS rep.

Is it time to contact a Lawyer? We had our kid and have Thousands of dollars in medical bill, I'm not throwing them another $500 for their mistake.

Id keep talking to them to get it straightened out, and try to get copies of any financial records and notes TFS, also ask to talk to managers and higher ups. I imagine TFS outsources the call center to India or some other place, so your really not going to get very far talking to someone unless its a manager.

Also, file a report with the BBB.

$500.00 is alot of money, but lawyers fees will probably run you at least a couple of hundred I imagine, so you may end up spending a couple if hundred to get the $500.00 back.

I've talked to them for LITERALLY 10+hrs, trying to get them to recognized their mistake.

The call centers are here in America (Only positive from this experience), the problem is, you can NEVER get a direct line so you can talk to the same person again or confirmation number. I asked the rep who assured me it was fixed for a confirmation number. "We don't issue them, but I will send you a statement ASAP," he replied.

The last collection call told me I needed to contact CS. I'VE ALREADY DONE MY PART!

I've sent one final email to them, if they refuse to budge, I will file with the BBB. That's a very good point. Thanks.

ask for a supervisor. you were not late intentionally and with the birth of your baby they should apply some goodwill towards your relationship w/ tfs.

congrats on the baby, btw

Thank you. This is our 3rd account through them, I hope they take that into consideration.

I know its hard, especially after ten hours of calls, but this is probably one of those things that will take some time to work out. Have patience, and get the records of any and all transactions. Since there is a paper trail this should be able to get resolved.

Ive been in similar situations in the past, it was always a hassle and the longest one took 2 momths to resolve.
