ok, i bought a 04 4runner from mike erd. toy in Merrit Island. i had the truck since dec. and the horn and the beep was pissing me off. ttok it to them, they say go 2 another dealer, we cant do it. went to that dealer, they said they cant touch it, its an 04, we arent trained. went to another dealer, 100+miles away, they couldnt fix it. so the headlights, the horn and the beep, all go on when u lock the doors. it looks bad and sounds bad. i need relief.:rant: :rant: :shakehd: :thumbdwn:

Ianbiz3, when you are talking about the horn sounding bad, do you mean it makes a weird noise when you go to honk it? If it is, I had a problem that occured randomly where the horn would sound muffled and high pitched. I brought it to the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem. I am not sure if it is the same problem.

I'm assuming you have an aftermarket alarm installed. The dealer installed a Chapman alarm that was like an "add-on" to the keyless system. It honked twice when I locked and once when I unlocked along with the chirps. I had them remove the alarm since it wasn't worth the $500 they wanted for it. It was a bit weird since it would honk twice but chirp once when locked, but honk once and chirp twice unlocked. After having it removed, it no longer honks. Your alarm probably has the headlights flashing instead of just the signal lights flashing.
Your dealer may not be able to change the honking or headlights because it's in the alarm, but they should be able to lower the chirping volume.

Because it's working as designed -- there is nothing to fix. The ones you took for test drives worked this way, too.Ianbiz3 said:

They won't "fix" it because it isn't broken. That is the sound it makes -just like Lexus (maybe Lexus has the option to turn it off, I don't know).
So you can't say your truck is broken and needs fixing. You need to say you don't like the fact there is no option to turn off the alarm arming sound.
There is a little piece called a "piezo" that takes 30 seconds to remove. That is what makes the little beep,beep sound.
I found it annoying and pulled mine out. You can find out how by doing a search on yotatech.com for piezo mod or piezio mod.

Unfortunately, no....even worse is that Toyota does not make this clear to the dealers. Mine was acting up when I returned from a business trip, and the dealer spent almost a week trying to figure out why it wasn't performing as the RS3200 documentation indicated. They had multiple calls with Toyota tech support, then went to Fujitsu-TEN, the actual manufacturer, before they were told that it is not an RS3200. The dealership service department was understandably upset with the time lost in trying to fix a nonexistent problem.02sport said:
