I don’t see it being the end of the 4Runner. The 4Runner is one of Toyota’s best selling vehicles, I don’t see them hanging that up.

I doubt it. Toyota already has a fleet full of unibody cross overs. 4Runner will stay BOF.

The 4runner and this new LC will be too similar and competitive price wise. A lot of speculation that something has to give to keep the updated 4R in its own category. That or they choke the supply numbers of this new LC and markups go through the roof. There is a reason the 4R is the last to be updated and I think it will be a surprise for a lot of us.

I saw the LC add today about the 4 cylinder and electric motor. I don't use my 4runners to their level but I'm not keen on electric motors. I'm sure they're fine but I like the 5th gen model.

I also thought the LC front looked similar to the Bronco; unsure about that.

The new LC looks pretty darn good if you wanted something a bit smaller/lighter than the current model for trails, and the resulting better performance. This new one looks VERY interesting with rear lockers and electronic swaybar disconnects standard. Hoping that it can take 33s without any body modifications or messed up caster.

It could be my next offroad rig unless I fall prey to that Rubicon 392's siren song.

It’s a goner. The question is will they run 24 as is, or will they burn inventory until production ramps up. Guess we’ll find out this month or next. New Year production starts in August I think.

It will be interesting to see. I think if the prices are not too far apart, then the 4R will become more like the new Pathfinder and the LC will be the true off-roader. If the prices are far apart ($15K, for example) then the 4R will simple be the cheaper and less capable vehicle. The current LC is nice enough but too fat and ponderous to be an off-roader unless we are talking about open trails and prairies. I certainly would not buy one in Colorado.

Y'all give Toyota way too much credit. LC is going to start in the mid $50K range and be well equipped at $60K+. This leaves plenty of room for Toyota to drop a 4Runner with a similar trim and powertrain options to the 2024 Tacoma in below it starting in the low to mid $40Ks range. I really doubt there is going to be any epiphany, but maybe I will be proved wrong.

I doubt they will drop the 4R. There will likely be that 15K price difference between the two. The 4Runner, the Land Cruiser, the Sequoia, and the GX550, will be in play. I am curious to see the crash test ratings for passengers, which has become a very important criteria.

nah, I just meant seeing a human being standing next to LC gives perspective on LC's size.

I know. The LC is about 8.5" wider than a 4Runner. Good if you need it, bad if you're trails are narrow and you like your paint.
