So my sisters and i have been thinking about moving to Vancouver B.C. For me to start college and for them to get there masters. We were all going to rent a house so it be cheaper but forget that

While im there i want to get a surf. Because diesel is cool! But all the surfs i have seen are rhd, and im afraid i wont be able to get used to rhd. Does anyone here have something rhd? Id like to know what its like, whats different. I know ill have to go through drive throughs backwards ;)

I drove RHD once, it was stick, the most awkward part was shifting it, and it wasn't bad. So autos won't have that issue.

IanB has an auto surf and he didnt seem to mind it.
 
I'd like a stick but i think it be hard to find one. And be weird getting used to, whats up with the little mirror on the front of the hood?
 
i live in vancouver,

i drove a RHD manual van in australia for 3 months.

it feels weird at first but you get used to it after a few days.

be prepared to go into drive throughs backwards :D

where are you thinking of schooling up here in van?
 
Might go to Btc in Bellingham. Sell the 2nd 4runner and buy a sc300. Vancouver is pricey:mad:
 
RHD isn't a big deal in a truck where you can see over most of the other cars on the road, I can see it being a problem in a low car for visibility though. Figuring out lane placement takes a couple of days, the fender mirror comes in handy for keeping an eye on the road lines in that adjustment period. Auto is fine in these Surf's as you can just ride the torque wave. I loved my truck, and will be replacing with another Toyota turbo diesel of some sort. Let me know if you have any questions.
 
i'd say its all relative to how you want to live in Van.

Vancouver's an amazing place to live given that theres so much to offer here.

I'd say your best bet would be to not live in Vancouver proper but in one of the surrounding cities. The BCIT campus is located in Burnaby on Willingdon Ave.

You could easily commute from East Burnaby, North East Richmond, Delta or Coquitlam.

Here's one in burnaby for $1500 a month:

3 bedroom with 2 bath and a buncha other features. roughly comes out to 500 per person a month which is average to get a 1 room studio in the lower mainland.

And of course Surrey:

From Richmond, Surrey or Burnaby you'd probably be looking at a 20-30 minute commute to BCIT.

I am from Sequim Washington, little hick town. My sisters went to Western for 4 years so i have spent alot of time in Bellingham. Nice college town.

no problem,

coquitlam west is a gorgeous place.

plenty of mountains around, hiking trails and lakes to fish.

also a mountain to 4x4 20 minutes away :D
