toyota toytec 3" level kit/ selling stock wheels and tires?

Hey all, I am new to this forum stuff but I'm looking for some insight. I recently got a 3" level & bigger tires 285/70/17 on my 2014 4runner trail. Has anyone had any problems with the steering wheel having a little shake to it only sometimes, no specific thing causing it but just a little movement in it?

Also, I am selling my stock wheels and tires, because I am about to put some black method wheels on it. Does anyone have any suggestions of pricing for these?

Purchased one about 2months ago so no "expert" but from all I've read...

1.Did you get a front end alignment? A must do with a lift

2.I've seen the average for wheels and tires is about $750. Some have that as item price, another included shipping. It's how much can you live with because you won't get what you would have to pay for new. Also don't forget to advise if they the TPMS sensor or not. If you don't it's likely assumed and for new kit (at discount tire at least) it's $240 for 4 installed.

Try looking through the For sale threads and you can see what others are asking.

shaking is more than likely from the alignment. There is a limited list on what it could be but that will be the likely culprit. I suggest browsing the classifieds and see what other people are selling their stock rims for and competitively price yours out.

rotate the wheels. put the front on the back and back on front, might be a balancing issue.

I agree with KneeCaps... I'm guessing it is a balancing issue. Did you have your tires road-force balanced?

Alternatively, does the shaking occur at the same speed everytime? Or on the same road everytime?

If it's at the same speed, it's your balance. If it's on the same road, it could just be the pavement. There is a ramp in the parking garage that I use when I go to work, and it gives feedback in my wheel every time. It happens on my truck and my car. The ramp looks perfect, so I have no idea why it happens, but it happens. Maybe something like that is happening to you too?

It's really no certain time that's why I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what needs to be fixed, sometimes it can be going on an incline and sometimes it can be just on a flat road. Not frequently just once in a while!

More likely balancing or a bad tire...check them first.

i recall some thread mentioning a special "plate" or something toyota uses for balancing their wheels. since your still using the stock wheels now, i guess another question would be who mounted/balanced the 285's? toyota service or other?

Wheel Pricing

I have been in the market for a while for the style of TE wheels you have. On Craigslist here in California, they are going between $300 to $500 for a set of 4 with no TPS or lug nuts.

I just bought a set that was in the for sale section in this 5th gen forum and shipping was $100 just to go from Utah to California. From another transaction, I know the shipping quote was $200 from coast to coast.

If you sell your stock Dueler tires and wheels, I have seen people sell the complete set for $650 to $850 for a set depending on tread life. For wheels and tires, I think shipping would be too expensive for anyone.
