Toytec Bolt-On Rear LCA Skids

Well I've been needing to get some protection for my rear LCA's for a while now. I definitely gave some thought to just buying brand new adjustable ones, but I really want to avoid running heim's. On my old '96 I had Toytec's weld on rear LCA skids and they were great! Toytec had discontinued them for the last couple years or so and I recently found out that they are making a bolt on version of the skid now. I haven't heard a lot of talk about them on here so I thought I'd give them a try and let you guys know what I think. Install was of course very straight forward (15 minutes). All you need is a metric allen wrench set (can't remember what size) or, I used a star hex bit on a regular ratcheting wrench. I've heard pressing out the bushings on the rear LCA's can be a pain, so I like the bolt on idea. If I need to change bushings I'll just pick up another set of arms from a junk yard and swap the skids over. These can be welded to the existing stock arms and I may do that in the future depending on the out come. Haven't gotten out on a trail with them yet, but I'll report back and let you know how they hold up! And props to Toytec for putting in some R&D on these 3rd gens. Not a lot of companies out there still doing that.

I'm diggin' it - I noticed you have the Lotus UCA skids too. I just put some of those on myself so may pair it up with some of these as well. Looks good, does it distribute a blow to the mounts too or just a shield for the arms?

Yeah the Lotus skids are great! Mine could use a good wire wheel and rattle can job though...

They are the 56503's (gotta swap lower bushings with these). I like them a lot. They ride great on the road. I ran the 56505's for a while but the compression was limiting my flex. The 56503's actually have a little bit shorter compressed length so it allows a little bit more flex. Although the 56505's are a bit longer I wasn't seeing any of that extra length because the other side would be fully compressed. I got a set of the BOSS rear shocks as well that I'm going to throw on and test out also. What can I say. I'm a shock whore. :naughty:

I can't help but want to put the RCI or BAMF skids on the front LCAs and these on the back but haven't needed that kind of armor. What it does is feed my obsession of buying stuff I don't currently need and making my runner bombproof just in case the zombie apocalypse comes to fruition!

They've actually been on for a year and 5 months now. Man time flies. Yeah they've been great. Haven't been able to go wheeling as much as I would have liked to lately, but they've taken some pretty hard hits and are holding up great. The arms don't look like they've been bent or anything, I'm very happy with the product.
