I know this is way old....but did you do the HD springs with your stock trd pro bilstein suspension?



I have the trd pro suspension on mine with the toytec 2 inch lift which came with the superflex rear coils. I have since added a rear plate, fridge slide and surround. and an arb drawer. As soon as I put my hitch tire carrier and load up for trips I get a little negative rake. I have been told the trd pro bilstein cant handle the hd spring, so I wonder how yours does.

Common issue, Eibach just introduced a rear coilover conversion solution with selectable rate and height. Perfect for dialing ride height with the rear loaded down.

Sorry for the late reply. Where did you hear the bilsteins can't handle the HD spring? Hopefully I'm not doing damage to them, but I've had the HD springs in a couple years with a lot of offroading and have had absolutely no problems.

Good to hear. My local shop that I trust and toytec as well. But given all my weight I ended up doing the HD springs this week. Sits so much better. We will see about longevity.

I have the Toytech Boss lift with regular springs in the back. My ride is level. When I do have passengers along with gear, I do hit my bumpstops on bigger bumps. I do not have a rear steel bumper but I do have full skid plates including gas tank and sliders. I am thinking about the heavier load springs but I guess it is a crapshoot on whether I will like the ride or not.

The Eibsch adjustable rear is intriguing though.

If you run around more unloaded than loaded, get airbags. Cheap and easy solution. When you load up, throw a few pounds of air in them and roll on. I threw a CRF250L on a hitch carrier yesterday (a bit under 350lbs hanging off the back end), went up to about 17 psi of air in the bags and i will still able to keep some positive rake, headlights weren't blinding everyone and the ride was good. Best of all, i drop the bags back to 5psi after unloading and the ride is the same. Just a suggestion. I don't like sacrificing my unloaded ride and handling for the times i do load up.

I wonder how this would be for extended trips with camping gear etc..

I have the Toytec 2.5 and the HD springs in the back. Other than a little bit more lift in the back when not heavily loaded, I think they feel fine. I do keep a pretty heavy RTT on top, and tools/recovery gear in the back, so always have some sort of load on it. Fully loaded for a camping trip they sag a little more, but still have a bit of rake. Off road I think they feel good in whatever load configuration. I might have a different opinion if I was doing any pre-running, but all my off roading is rocky and slower.

Reviving this thread...

I just ordered a Toytec Boss lift, and am having some reservations about the HD coils. I talked to Hugo, and he was very friendly and helpful, though he was really pushing me for the heavier springs. I do have a RTT (130 lbs) which sits on the vehicle most of the year, and always have my tool box (need to weigh it, maybe 40 lbs), and often have a bike rack on the back (again need to weigh, maybe 50 lbs, more with bikes). I will probably also do sliders pretty soon (~ 100 lbs?) With all that, I am hoping it won't to be too stiff.

I had planned on a 2" lift... I think the springs are +2.5". Wondering how much they will sag? The coilovers come set at 2.5", but are adjustable, I was thinking of dialing them down a little to 2", but don't want to add rake. I like the stock rake.

Now, I'm also worried that those brand new 255/75 KO2's are going to look small...

So hard to make this kind of investment/change without really knowing how it's going to turn out...

Will the RCC2.0HD coils work for my 3rd gen? I'm seeing in their specs they're for 03+ ...
