Would anyone in the Co area be able to help me with 5100/Eibach coil install sometime this week, finishing before 2, possibly before sunday. I don't have access to a place where I can install and never have take a shock apart before. I'll provide lunch and a 6 or 12 pack?

Sorry man, I would but I've got a bunch of crap to do this upcoming weekend on my now inoperable 4runner :( If no one else can help you out and you want to tackle it in an upcoming weekend let me know.

Did you get it all assembled or do we still need to assemble it? I'm only asking because i had a rental compressor break on me and almost take my leg with it. I would strongly reccommend having it assembled prior to install, but I am happy to help. If you have a floor jack or a lift at your disposal it makes life much easier. Let me know when you'd like to tackle it. I'm free saturday morning and today and tomorrow after work 430 ish... in Northglenn.
 
Are you getting the coils already mounted on the shocks from Toytec? If not you should. At that point it's just a matter of unbolting the old and bolting in the new.

I should also add, if they aren't preassembled, it's not difficult to do the install without a compressor. Search for a youtube video or post on Tacoma forums (and probably here) about the spring compressor-less method. You essentially jack up the lower control arm with the LBJ and sway bar link disconnected. This puts load on the spring and allows you to disconnect the top center bolt. You then lower the jack down slowly and the whole thing pops apart and you pull out the assembly. Then just loosely assemble your new gear and place back up where it needs to be. Jack up the front end lining up the piston or whatever it's called until it pokes through the top and you can put the bolt back on.

IMO it's safer than using typical rented spring compressors, takes very little time and arm power, and has worked on my Tacoma and 4runner more than once. All of my installs have been done in apartment complex parking lots, with the most recent time being Dec 26th of last year while snow flurries were coming down.

I'm not allowed to like touch the car in my apartment lot :( I didn't have them assemble them since I'm a bit tight on money with rent and loans due haha. I have a friend who has a compressor I could use, but he has to prepare for a concert and won't have time this week.
I may take you up on your offer of saturday morning Mrhentoni and then get it aligned on monday when my shop opens. Could we possibly do lbjs as well?
And if any of you are interested in going to Miller Rock on sunday It would be awesome to have a few more 4runners going
 
Bad week for me man. I gotta try to get mine put back together so I have a chance at making the trail run Sunday.

I'd highly recommend using a wall mounted spring compressor vs. the portable kind that you rent from O'rielly's, autozone, etc. It will make it much easier and be less dangerous.

I'm not sure what your budget on this is, but this would make life much easier:

looks like $30/hr and all tools available. We could definitely punch it out in a couple hours with a lift. I did my fronts in about an hour this last time around when I added the top plates to my TRD tundra setup to get a full 3"
 
If we could do it in about 2 hours that could work. I have a full tool set, jack stands, jack, hi lift, and a compressor
 
Well... I've never been given permission to do things in apartment lots either :usa: I can't imagine pulling a motor and drinking beer outside with a bunch of buddies in lawn chairs would be acceptable. For the record, this leasing company charged me for not dusting the top of the ceiling fan blades on a ~20ft ceiling and basically ate my entire deposit for ridiculous crap along those lines. Tightwads.

But a suggestion if you're even considering the DIY auto garages (I used one in Westminster I think it was, and it was awesome) and even in general to not eat up someone else's entire Saturday, start hitting your bolts with PB blaster daily. Struggling to remove them can cost a lot of time even with air, and you also have a greater risk of breaking a bolt. That would leave you pretty screwed or stuck in someone else's garage for who knows how long.

Also if you're trying to knock out LBJ, I suggest renting a pitman puller instead of pickle forking the SOB which will destroy the tie rod boot. I found the larger one offered by Autozone and O'Reilly is perfect. The autozone one's arms were slightly bent and they didn't have another, so I returned it and went to O'Reilly. On their tool rental mat on their parts counter, it's the larger of the two shown.

And seriously, screw spring compressors for this. Do the jack method, <30 minutes per side, or 1hr for the first side and 30 for the second if you're unfamiliar.

Saturday looks like it'll be pretty nice out. If you're down to help, Amalik, we can do this in my driveway thing (fenced concrete slab, like 20x20 ft). I just have some crap to do myself so I don't want to get 100% tied up on someone else's 4runner. You both will definitely leave knowing how to do it blind folded and I'll lead the show, just someone let me tap out after I skin the same knuckle 3 times.

I have multiple jacks, jack stands, impact, every socket in the world, music, fans, yadaya. Given that it's Saturday though I won't be capable of driving a vehicle after about 1:15pm when beer #6 hits, should you need to get to Autozone for something. Only thing I'd love not to do is LBJ since it sucked. Asas, are you prepared for LBJ job- as in, the parts themselves, and 8 new bolts? We can do it but if you don't PB blast in advance I will crap my pants, can't have a stuck vehicle in my parking spot overnight given my luck with break-ins parking on the street.

Are you offering to help out? I was planning on going down to castle rock to mrhentonis. I have all new hardware for the lbjs and a tie rod end puller. Everything has been hit with pbb, saved my ads a few times haha. I can't get stuck down there as I need to be back in boulder at 2 for work
 
Shat I was, I didn't realize there was such a time constraint. I don't think I'd feel comfortable with that all going smoothly by then unless it kicked off early in the AM, which I can't really do. Sry
 
Yeah I'm no mechanic, but I usually triple the amount of time I think it will take to get a project done and that's usually how long it takes me. Lol. Everyone knows stuff rarely goes as planned. Plus you gotta factor an hour and fifteen minute drive time both directions. I'd be reluctant to try to tackle it if I had a work restraint at 2:00. Not that it's impossible to do in that time, I've just had too many projects take way longer than expected.
